Angry How do you dial by letters?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, so I know how to dial my phone with numbers but here is what I always run into.. You dial a company and it says to please spell the users last name.. how the heck do you do it? I hit keys that are not numbers and it errors out?

Press the ALT key and then press the letter...

Very commonly asked question - it is actually described nicely in the online Help module on the BlackBerry.

Nice of him to help. He must be one of those Forum/blog dwellers that have read every thread and are insulted when someone asks a question that was answered 24 months ago.

hold the "alt" key and press the letter

Yes, as a long time moderator here, I am obviously a blog dweller.

Searching forums is a lost art - I am sorry that your second post here is so negative.

We should all be insulted when others place so little value on OUR TIME as to waste it by asking questions that are already answered in the online help available through the device, the owners manual, and countless FAQs and threads throughout the Internet. No one is suggesting that anyone read 24 months (your estimate) worth of posts in search of an answer - that's what the search function is for.

I've only had my Blackberry for two months, and I already skip over any thread containing the words Gmail and sent in the subject.

Ok, well first thanks for the reply, but 2nd I find searching most msg board sucks... I have not seen a good way of doinging it.. People post under different titles.. if everyone searched then there would be no need for 10million threads would there? I am in several forums and most people find it more simple to ask vs search as you get more direct answers..
kinda funny since there is another post on this http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...al-keypad.html . My problem is INCALL alpha dialing not precall. I know how to do that.

And to top if I usually help people and not act like UncleMike that is appear too smart for the rest of us.. Happens on all forums, people just ask and nice people just answer.

And INCALL is in the same manner. Most systems accept the input as it is made on your BB.

There are some that do not.

What were your circumstances? We you in the phone dial pad?
