Default Battery: Battery With Red Line Through It.

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, last week my phone just shut off randomly. I tried turning it back on, then a white screen came up with a picture of a battery with a red line through it. I assumed that this was because my phone needed to be charged. So I charged it and it still didn't work.

I bought a new battery from T-Mobile and the same thing has happened again.

It is on charge now, what is the problem? What should I do?

Battery with a red line through it means water damage.
You should also see a white little sticker inside your BlackBerry. It probably has a red line going through it as well.
Your device is most likely kaput.

Sorry.
I read your message incorrectly.
I seems that your device no longer "sees" that there's a battery.
Maybe the battery connectors are bad?
Looks like it needs service.

There are numerous posts discussing the battery with the red line. All 5 of my batteries have this on them. What I have found out is that if the battery gets wet the red line will fade into the white area. Basically, if your battery gets wet then the whole indicator will (almost) be red.

There is also a water damage indicator below my battery on the phone it's self... upper left corner.

People are discussing two different things. The OP is taking about when the picture of a battery shows on the screen with the red slash through it, and the other is the label stuck on the battery.

When it shows on the screen, the only solution I've seen people mention is a replacement battery. If that didn't fix it, it sounds like some kind of hardware problem with the phone.

hey OP, did u get your phone up and running? I was posting all over these forums with same problem and had basically given up, dead phone... So last night, having remembered reading battery terminals somewhere, decided to take it back apart to look around. Sure enough, one of the four battery terminals was bent and touching another. a little bend back with my finger and guess what? Blackberry back up and running! God I love fixing things...

Not sure how handy you are, but if you're comfortable taking your phone apart (phones dead anyway right? Nothing to lose), dig in and check battery terminals. If broken, or damaged beyond repair, you can buy new one for like $5. from Cellular Nationwide Network - 3G, Sony, Panasonic, LG, SonyEricsson, Nokia, Tools, BlackBerry,

good luck!
