Not sure, but really I was wondering if anyone managed to get this working with a Hotmail account.

Server settings for incoming and outgoing are correct, as like I said I CAN recieve email no problem, but sent emails don't reach their destination.

So anyone else with hotmail had any luck?

I emailed the support for ShangMail and they got back to my really quickly. There reply is that because Hotmail uses TLS Encryption which ShangMail currently doesn't support.

A another quick email later and they said they do plan to implement this in the near future.

So as it stands if you are using a Hotmail account, like me you will be unable to send email, only recieve it.

Still its push email without having to pay for BIS/BES so its pretty good nevertheless.

Again who cares that its in China? :D

Intelligence gathering is very expensive.

Unless of course you can get people to willingly give you access to their personal and business email. Bandwidth is dirt cheap.

For info I got a friend in Beijing to contact them (i.e. speak to them in Chinese).

Was informed that at present the service is in a preliminary stage (i.e. they are testing the service), hence that is why there is no charge for it at present. However, at the same time they cannot guarantee reliability of service while in testing stage.

one thing leaning me towards shangmail is the fact that the gmail app does use up quite a bit of battery life.
