Question VNC Client for BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

I need help. I installed the VNC version that is listed in the threads available on this forum. After a little effort I got it to work. However I have some issues and I am wondering if among the more experienced bretheren of the BB , some one has some answers for me.

1) Are there other VNC clients out there that are faster and more reliable. This one is very slow due to the fact that the pages are not resolved to the screen size of a blackberry or at least I have not figured out how to make it so.

2) Are there other VNC clients more secure, this client cannot be used as a third party application with most VNC servers in an NT Logon mode or in an encrypted mode.

The whole idea of the VNC for me was to be able to get into my work or home computer in a remote fashion, however I will not put at risk either by using unencrypted non-NT Logins that can be intercepted and avail anyone of means to get into those systems.

Speed is another issue, the main purpose behind this usage is to be able to assist with a problem at work when I am not in the office, since the screens are not reduced or at least processed for BlackBerry viewing it takes years to get the unit to the appropriate place you want to go. I am really new at BlackBerrying, and even newer at this whole VNC concept, however I equate it to PCanywhere or remote desktop and both of those (though not designed or intended for BlackBerry usage) lead me to believe that maybe since this is usable in the BlackBerry that I either set it up wrong or that maybe there is a better client that I am not aware of that would sideskirts the issues I have just described.

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance for any help or assistance you may be able to render me.

Try Remote Desktop for Mobiles -- it isn't free like the VNC client, but it seems to be more reliable, and definitely much quicker. They have a trial that you can use to see if it fits your purposes. I was glad to find it after having many of the same struggles you have had with the VNC client.

I would also suggest that you try Idokorro Mobile Admin, it was designed for exactly the purpose you are asking, allowing a fast and secure connection to all your servers, overcoming the small screen and slow connection problems of the BlackBerry.

Default Thanks a million

You guys are aces, thank you for both suggestions, both will work just fine I am ticked off at myself for not having asked for help first since after I installed it I went and bought a VNC server program from England that sucks big time and unfortunately cannot get my money back for. It works fine from desktops but not from BBs. Maybe I can sell it on E-bay, ha.

I recommend that you try our Idokorro Mobile Desktop software, it's a VNC client for BlackBerry, specifically optmized for the BlackBerry 8700, but also works on any color BlackBerry with 4.0 or higher.
