Yes, that's exactly what happened. Verizon (and probably the others) and Skype entered into a contractual agreement for Skype to be available on their BlackBerry devices. Verizon PAID (presumably a lot of money) for the privilege. It's called business.

And again, you didn't use the word "supported" in your post. You said "I seriously doubt there ever will be skype for BlackBerry, except for BB 10. " which is wrong since there already IS "skype for BlackBerry".

To be honest, I don't really care.

Here's my position: The BlackBerry is a dying platform. I switched over to a Windows Phone last week. No regrets. If traffic is down here, it really has no impact on me. The moderators (all volunteers) get NOTHING from this forum, outside of the fact that we do (or did) like contributing here. Most of the original mods are gone. Absentee owner.

And Skype is available and works great on my new phone (as opposed to my prior BB 9900).

If you prefer a more vibrant, and equally nasty environment, feel free to go to Crackberry. There you can read all about how BB 10 is going to save the world, and that the PlayBook really, really is the best tablet around.
