Default Blackberry 7230 with Shure Quietspot

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a Shure Quietspot to use with my Blackberry 7230. I never used the original headset so I don't know if something happened during the 4 months I owned the 7230 but when the backlight is on I hear a slight buzz in the headset. I changed out headsets with the original one and an old Motorola headset I have and the buzz is still there. The buzz lessens once the backlight is off but its very noticable with the backlight on.

The Quietspot makes the buzz much more pronounced but it's still there when using the other headsets.

Is this normal or should I get the thing fixed?

I've found all third party headsets aside from that provided with the BB units have some sort of buzz to them. I've had this problem with a couple but the Jabra headset I'm currently using seems to be the best of the bunch no buzz that I've noticed, backlit or not.

Unfortunately, it's normal. I tried a bunch of different headsets (including a Shure and a Jabra) with my 7230 and ran into the same problem. Some buzzed a little, and some buzzed a lot. In the end, I stuck with the one that came with the 7230, because it doesn't buzz at all when I turn on the backlight.

I guess it depends on the EMI rejection capabilities of the headset; since some backlights emit a fair bit of EMI.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think it's just a part of the blackberry. It's more of a whine that starts at a high pitch and ratchets down. I can hear it on the built in earpiece now but it's not that noticeable unless you're really listening for it. The Shure Quietspot just accentuates the sound but I think it's a part of the blackberry.

You may want to try on a different Blackberry -- and see if it is your own specific model that has more EMI than others, as they do vary from Blackberry to Blackberry.
