Default BES outside my WiFi Network?

Please Login to Remove!

I have full BES functionality inside the WiFi network I have..
But outside on another WiFi network I have none..
Does any one know if AT&T(My ISP) block BES ports????
I have the ports 3101, 3443, 500, 4101, 4500 open to the BES server

Do you have a full BES data plan from AT&T rather than a BIS or standard carrier data plan?

Can I ask why a BES data plan is needed?
I thought just like when using LAN the blackberry device tries to connected over WiFi, or is there a hard code block if no BES data plan exists?

Just as a side note. My ISP (AT&T) are blocking ports 3101, 500, 4500. i checked using yougetsignal.com

because out side of your network LAN, the device needs to contact RIMs NOC to transmit data and thats only possible with a BlackBerry dataplan.

ooh,
and after a little google reading, the 4 dots are the Devise connected to the RIM's NOC, which i assume this is done via my BES Server over my LAN.

Correct but that only happens if you have a dataplan out side of your LAN

That will change for OS10 (at least for consumers), you can use simple ActiveSync over a standard data plan.

As for BES10, although it uses ActiveSync, you will still go via RIM's infrastructure, so I guess you have to pay.
