thanks for the help. actually, i have at&t and I mean no data plan.

i don't think at&t offers there own data plan. i think it is strictly bis/bes.

if they do and i can use the work around, i will gladly do that.

if it can't be done with at&t/cingular, than, please don't waste your time.

thanks.

Here's another question: have you been able to get any of the Sprint specific services onto your BB (On Demand, Navigation, etc). I don't really care so much about TV or On Demand, but it would be nice to get the Navigation for when I make some long distance trips. I was reading on some other forums how you can only get Navigation (according to customer service) with the BB data plan added to your package but that's crap, because clearly the web can be accessed without it.

Maybe there's a Sprint site where those things can be downloaded OTA?

By the way, I tested funambol and it actually does do push e-mail on the BB, but it only lets you set up one e-mail account. I may just go through gmail for all my e-mail multiple account needs.
i have not been able to get sprint specific stuff to work.....there's no sprint tv icon even on my blackberry..but I don't care... m.youtube dot com (replace dot with .) works with the blackberry browser and that is more than good enough for me

Gmail is enough for my needs and I like the gmail app a lot

Any chance anyone would be willing to help a BB noob?

Thanks
im in med school so i have really limited time..but you download that program....run option 1....then follow the picture directions to restore the service books in your black berry...then run option 2.....anworm has provided the service book for you in the file below the program...hope this helps

badlands: if you don't have a data plan..then there is no point for you to do this...we are on a sprint plan that has unlimited data...so we won't get charged data

no problem...many carriers charge almost twice as much for blackberry data versus regular data on a treo phone, etc.

Many sprint customers are on a SERO plan which comes with free unlimited data....so instead of paying $30 more per month for a blackberry plan, this trick lets us use regular data instead of blackberry data

By the way eyecon, a friend of mine works for Sprint and he said that I could get the Navigation service directly from telenav.com. Seems like I'd have to pay them directly. Either way, nice to have the option. And it's cheaper than paying Spring $10 a month for it (Telenav charges $99 for the year).

Exclamation Probs with this using Optus in Australia

I have no BB BIS or BES account, just a working GPRS service.

Followed ANWORMs tech article.

1: Remove browser
2: restore the SBs
3: reinstall browser

but when open the browser I get error message "the currently configured Browser profile, with a CID of "Browser Config", does not have an associated protocol stack registered with the browser, you must either change to another Browser Configuration (via browser options > Browser Configuration) or load a browser protocol stack for this CID"

Also when viewing Options>Advanced Options> Browser, there is no "Browser" assigned in Default Browser Config.

I have tried redoing the whole process several times but same result. Have checked with my carrier and GPRS & APN settings correct.

Any ideas anyone?

Has anyone on Rogers tried this?

Does it work for the Bold?

I have tried taking out my batt, but nothing changed. Anyone on Rogers have any experience with this?

This stuff is all hit-or-miss. If you want data features on your Blackberry, just get the friggin' BIS plan. Or a different mobile.

I used anworm's instructions for browser and it works
I cannot make MMS work on my 8700g. I even don't have "Compose MMS" menu item. Can this be fixed with service books? I cannot make Google Talk work neither :( I'll check if BB maps work..

Big thanks anworm for browser anyway

That's because there is no camera on the 8700. Non-camera BB's don't have service books for MMS.

I am also using Sprint BB8830 on CDMA.
I tried the soln & am able to use 8830GSM BIS services but NOT the CDMA BIS services.
Pl confirm if u r using Sprint CDMA using the soln posted by Anworm?
If yes, Pl share with me what & hou made it happen.
My CDMA plan has Data plan active as I swapped teh ESN with my OLS CDMA Nokia phone which had Data Plan active.
I am not in USA but using CDMA NW in another country.
Pl revert asap
Thanks

I am guessing that backing up the TCP/IP service book allows you to get around the problem of not being able to configure the APN/ TCP-IP settings on CDMA (namely Sprint and Verizon)?

And you were able to enter APN/TCP-IP settings? (Gateway? Port Number?)
