Default Verizon OS 6 now ready

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, so the Verizon site has the new OS 6 ready for download on their page. I downloaded the latest version via this website (I figure it's the same version as OS released by VZW today and didn't know it was out till just now). I do not like it!! I hate the fact that you have the left to right sliding menu (All, Favorites, Media) which I easily scroll and have to go back and forth to get to the 'All' menu which I only care to use. Is there a way to make this go away?? I also noticed the browser font is tiny even though it's set at size 14 in browser option. Additionally, the browser option does not have the page or column view which makes it hard to read due to the tiny font.

For those of you Verizon users who have downloaded the new OS via their site, are you finding the aforementioned to still be the case, or is there a fix to this? HELP!

For now, I am going back to the latest OS5.

Detest the sliding menu bar myself, too bad there is not an option to shut it off. Also too bad that Golf Logix can't get a version of their Golf GPS on work on OS 6.

I just got a Bold with OS 6.0 and it is driving me nuts!!! Hate it.

Is this side-to-side menu thing RIM's answer to the iPhone and Android?!?!?

There are plenty of themes available that do away with the sickening default theme.

Well, I'm currently running OS 5.0.0.1006, and would like to upgrade to OS 6. I've been reading these posts periodically, waiting for an iteration of 6 that is mature and stable.

All I basically care about is a "webkit" browser (which I presume will be much speedier and more reliable than the browser in OS 5), email delivery (incoming and outgoing), and text messaging. I don't have any other 3rd party applications running.

I'm not an "early adopter", and am probably a little risk adverse, but with BB talking about OS 6.1 already... I wonder if OS 6.0.xxxx might be sufficiently mature/stable enough for me. Please, what do you think? And if so, what iteration of 6 should I try? Thanks very much!

After a decent amount of tinkering, I've discovered that my Verizon 9650 that came with OS 6 runs soooooooooooo much better with Sprint's OS 6 shown in the sticky above. This I can work with.

Verizon's 431/AllTel's 436 are better than 415. The best one I've run so far is 524 (check the leak sites) and I've run them all.

I am running 431. I downloaded 9650_6.0.0.524_LEAKED then removed 431 from Add/Remove Programs, then installed 524. I run the Desktop Manager software and even loader.exe separately and it never finds it. Not sure how to get it to want to let me update.

Did you delete the vendor.xml file? Did you disconnect from the internet?
