I just recieved my new Nextel 7100i. This is my first Blackberry(previous Pocket PC and Nextel I830) and I am interested in getting some information regarding the installation of a bluetooth car kit. From what I have learned the obvoius choices seem to be either the Parrot CK3100 or the Motorola IHF1000(unless I am mistaken). I am looking to install these into a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe Z-71 with Bose radio (indash 6 cd changer) and an Onstar system.

A few things of concern are:
1. Ease of installation(I can do myself...pretty handy)
2. Integration with factory speakers
3. automatically connecting. (I am in and out of vehicle alot. Don't want to have to push buttons each time)
4. ability to voicedial (if any)
5. phonebook access.

ok, i cannot answer 1 and 2.

3. Your 7100i allows for one "active" bluetooth connection at a time. for example, you're on your bt earpiece when you get in the car. you would have to "disconnect" your earpiece before the car kit would make and "active" connection with your phone.

I replied to your email - and I will reply here as well. We have not tested the 7100i as of yet. but have certainly tested the others.

The CK 3100 and the iHF1000 can both use onboard voice dialing to dial your BlackBerry. The IHF1000 wins hands down in the recoginition department - it's just better suited to a variety of speakers/talkers.

As far as install it will depend on whats in the Tahoe... if the factory head unit supports mute and telephone input it's a walk in the park. If not then you may have some engineering to do to get it to work with your factory radio. The Parrot has a "pass though" design for audio and has the best chance to be "engineered" into service. If those routes don't work you can use the speaker provided with the Motorola or purchase the optional Parrot speaker.

The BB and the car kit will automatically connect assuming you do not have another BT device active with your BB (like a headset) otherwise you will have to tell the BB to connect.

The current BT software in the BB will not permit access to the phonebook. Both kits store some contacts in there own memory. The Motorola has full voice recognition "digit" dial - "Call 650 745 1913" can be spoken to it and it will dial your 'Berry.

The 7100T did not work as expected with the Motorola kit - WE HAVE NOT TESTED THE 7100I yet. We should have that done by next week.

Just to let everyone know that I just got off the phone with Robert at Smart Phone Depot and ordered a IHF1000 that I will attempt to install this weekend and I will post an update on how I made out.

I would highly recommmend SPD for anything. Robert was great to deal with.

Do not want to sound pessimistic but I think you will find that you wont be able to sync your Blackberry with the car kit phone book, voice dial etc.

The only thing the Blackberry will do is connect to the car kit and disconnect automatically.

There are previous threads about this. We had our comms company in the office today and were told that they are Beta testing new software direct from RIM that will allow this to happen.

When will this be available???????????????????????

I would be intersted to know how you get on. We have the CK3000. It may be possible to upload your phone book to the CK3100 car kit by a bluetooth enabled laptop but this is not available with the CK3000.

Actually Tiger went for the Motorola IHF1000 voice controlled system. No Phonebook downloading. We disccussed the possible issues and he is the adventerous type so he went for it!

The installation went smooth as silk and the 7100i recognized the system and it works flawlessly (other than the ability to push my contacts) I can however put up to 20 voice contacts on the system and that works for me. The system also instantly recognizes the phone without any buttons to push when I turn on the ignition.

I have it running on the external speaker for now, as it is midnight. This weekend I will wire it into the Tahoe's audio system and let you know how that worked out.

Again, my many thanks to Robert and Smart Phone Depot. I ordered the unit on Wed at 3:30pm and it arrived at 10:00 am the next morning. SUPER FAST.

I have a BB 7520 and am getting a 2006 Chevy Avalanche delivered this week. I used to have a hard mount kit (direct wired) for my I730 until I went to a blackberry 3 months ago. I miss the "quality" handsfree I had with the hard mount kit.

I was all ready to buy a Motorola IHF 1000 then I started to read about the Parrot CK3100 and the new 3200 LS. Got my interest right away.

A few questions:

1) Does the Parrot store all the contacts so that voice dailing works on it's own? (My BB, as you know does not have voice dial and this would be huge for me)
2) How many Contacts can the Parrot hold? I need to store about 200.
3) Can they all be set to voice dial? How much voice training is needed?
4) How about installing to the 2006 Chevy Avalanche? Are their adapter cables available? What questions do I need to ask my Chevy dealer to find out about the muted function?
5) Any problems pairing or working with the Blackberry 7520?
6) Which unit, the IHF 1000, CK3100 or 3200 LS is best to buy in your mind?

Did Tiger every get back to anyone on whether he was successfull in getting his IHF1000 to work through his stereo speakers in his Tahoe? I have a 2004 Silverado that I want to do the same with figure we have the same stereo.

I installed a CK3100 in my "06" Chevy Avalanche today using a Cellsite GMC SS-2 harness and a PARROT-1 Adapter. My findings:

System works GREAT!
Onstar still works GREAT
Install was fairly easy!
Cables were all plug and play. Cost for Parrot CK3100, and Harnesses ran about $215. Great investment.
Using IPAQ 5555 with Bluetooth to transfer Contacts to the Parrot.

NO ECHO PROBLEMS

Radio mutes when phone rings or you call out and comes back as soon as you hang up.

I also have a 7520 and I'm currently using a Nokia HF-6w which I bought from expansys.com. It apparently is mainly sold in Europe but I liked the design and it works ok, but my callers say it's hard to hear me sometimes, yet I hear them load and clear.

I'm going to give the Parrot 3200 LS a try and hardwire it in my Toyota Tundra. I'll let you all know how it is. Hoping there is no echo and the microphone can be mounted remotely, closer to the headliner.

oops, sorry all for not checking back on this thread. I still have not wired into my Tahoe's speakers. I can't seem to find the mute wire for my factory radio.
For the record I have a 2003 chevy tahoe with 6disk in dash cd changer Bose system. If anyone can provide a link for either a harness or wiring diagram it would be greatly appreciated.
