Default 8310 jpeg.rem picture files, and I know it has been discussed before

Please Login to Remove!

Sorry to bring this up again, but all the posts and threads really don't resolve the issue. I did a back up of my 8310, copied my memory card to my computer, swapped to a larger memory card, tried copying back the origional files, and now I am unable to open the pictures. Videos were fine, music was fine, just the pics were encrypted. Even better, I did not have encryption on.

I use media manager and there is no thumbnail, and once on my phone it doesn't recognize them as pics. I tried a new folder and moving from the media card to the phone and nothing.

Any ideas? I would hate to think I lost all the pics of my week with my kids.

Thanks in advance, and once again, sorry for posting something I know has been discussed before. I was hoping there was some new input.

Welcome to the BBForums.

You have to go back to the original device and turn off encryption before you remove and copy the pictures files from the original Media Card.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't have encryption on to begin with. I turned it off the day I got the phone. Would encryption get turned on once I changed the card?

The worst part about this is I copied it all to my computer, and gave the other media card to my dad who in turn formatted it and is using it in his camera. Now, have I any way of turning the pics I have in jpg.rem format back to jpg? Can I get them back on the media card and have the phone decrypt them? Or have I done the dumb and lost them for good?

By the lack of replies I am guessing I have lost my pics for good.
