This works fairly well on my PlayBook as long as I keep it in portrait mode. It synced my books and i was able to read and scroll tbrough them. Some folks at CB said they could read books after turning off wifi but I did not find tbat yet.

It doesn't yet support creation of new highlighting and annotation, on any browser, but that's coming. Other than that, it works well. It also works in the Bridge browser, so if you have a BB the need for offline access is reduced.

I am still waiting for the native Kindle eBook reader app. I will be waiting for a long time.

Now that the Cloud reader is out, and a stated intention to tweak it for various browsers, including the PB browser, I have strong doubts that there will ever be a native app for PB. I hope I'm wrong, because I would prefer one too, but I have a feeling that Amazon has decided that web apps are the way to go, rather than having to build new versions for new platforms and new OS releases etc. The fact that the iOS and Chrome browsers are the first supported for the Cloud reader is interesting, given that the iOS and Android native apps already exist.

The native Kindle app on my iPad is fantastic. That's the app to wait for on PlayBook!

And it is a major reason I can't switch off my iPad and use my PlayBook more frequently. It is a huge gap for me. And Amazon gives me nothing but lip service.

I wonder if Amazon will say anything about whether or not they are continuing to develop a native Kindle app for the PB. When I called a few weeks back and asked about it, I was told to expect an app "sooner rather than later", whatever that means, but I wasn't given details. If, as I suspect, they were referring to this Cloud reader, then I suppose they might now change their answer to, "With the availability of the Cloud reader, we have no plans to develop a native app for the PlayBook..." I'll let someone else make the phone call this time.

i havent been able to find out where, but the cloud reader downloads the book to the playbook once you open it. Once it is downloaded it does let you read and go through the book with wifi turned off. interesting, but it still kinda sucks...can't scroll through using the scroll bar at the bottom, no table of contents in my books, rendering isnt very fluid, and of course page-turn animations are non existent. The animations seems a little trivial, but it helps to be able to see which way the page is turning.
