The BB support guy I spoke with said he'd be glad to implement the wap.voicestream.com APN and the internet2.voicestream.com APN, but that doing so would preclude me from having access to the blackberry.net email services. According to him, it boils down to a matter of robbing paul to pay peter, so to speak.

So I opted to forego the request.


ON ANOTHER (unrelated) NOTE, AGAIN.....

He confirmed that roaming onto the Cingular network is up and running, for voice and GPRS, UNLESS the particular former ATTWS site (or local switch, etc.) has not yet been configured or modified as a true Cingular site (without going into the specifics).

Robbing paul doesn't need to be done to pay peter...

People on Cingular are able to have BlackBerry email and Internet access on Cingular, successfully. What is needed is that extra lineitems simply needed to be added to the Cingular bill. it is a little tricky to set up at first. You have to telephone Cingular and ask for these line items to be added to your Cingular bill, if it does not already show up on your Cingular bill, called "Wireless Internet Express" and "Wireless Internet Express Data Connect":

In some states, it's called differently, but in most of the states, these are the line items.
