Default Windows 2008 + Exchange 2007 + BES 4.1.5 on the same box?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok I know this is a bad idea and personally I would never do this BUT can anyone point me to a document from RIM where they do not recommend installing 2008, 2007 and BES on the same box.

A few versions back RIM changed their stance on installing exchange and BES on the same box and it was supported, so I need something to show the sales guys that while supported (or not) it's not recommended.

No VMs..this is directly on the same box.

I need a doc from RIM that says that it's not supported....it's not my call its the higher ups.

I know it's a bad idea but IT guys don't always dictate sales.

I'm pretty sure that Windows Server 2008 is not supported by RIM for the BES yet. You should be able to find some documentation on supported OS's on BES 4.1.5 and show that Windows Server 2008 is not on that list.

BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Microsoft Exchange: BlackBerry Enterprise Server Pre-Installation Guide

makes no mention of 2008 that I can see.

There you go. Just show them that RIM does not support BES on Windows server 2008 yet, and you don't have to worry about proving that BES+exchange on the same box are supported. It becomes a moot point.

BES just doesn't install on a 64bit machine.
so it shouldn't work on it.

installing a BES on the same server as exchange I've seen and done many time (just don't put many users on it (10-15 max)

That argument won't work for long, as BES 4.1 SP6 should have atleast partial 64-bit support.

Also, the prospects of running Windows Server 2008 Server Core with Hyper-V are quite exciting, to an extent (that extent being the fact that we have multiple behemoth ESX 3.5 farms in production that more than fulfill our needs).
