Can anyone help me understand how to change my screen from text to icons on my 7100g. I have cingular service.

By default that model does not have an icon based theme on it. You will have to install a new theme and apply that. Search this message board and you should find a number of links to theme downloads. Make sure you get one specifically for the 7100!
