9700 - is using 5.0
9800 - is using 6.0.

Several threads which hilight the differences.

Your decision shouldn't be based upon the OS on the device.

I figured the OS6 would be better. I really like texting with the keypad and don't care for the sliding feature. Any thoughts??

Switch to the 9700. It will get OS 6 eventually.

Is there any major difference that would be negative? I'm kinda worried about the screen size.

Why would you be worried? The 9700 is available in stores. The screen size isn't a secret.
If you like the 9700, get it. If you don't like it, don't get it.

This is all a matter of personal preference.
I only suggested the 9700 because you gave us a choice between two phones and said you didn't like the slider.

What I meant was isn't the 9700 screen smaller than the 9800? So worried it would be too small

I agree with Penguin. Go to an ATT store and play with both. Decide which you like. No matter what you will have to get a BB data plan as ATT requires it. The choice is yours to make.

Thanks I was just looking for opinions. I was an iphone 4 owner until a few days ago. So I figured the touch screen would be great but I'm not even using it.

Yeah, i still have yet to find a touch screen that works well.

I develop for android and iphone/pod so i use them both all the time.

There is no substitute for a keyboard. a REAL keyboard.

i love my 9700 and with the newest hybrid OS i put on it, it FLYS.

the 9700 should be GREAT once it gets os6.

hope that helps

Thanks. I'm leaning towards keeping the 9800 now. I really like the screen size. Maybe just need more time to get use to its touch screen.

Although the 9800 has double the hardware specifications fo the 9700, it actually works very slow with OS 6 due to the touchscreen eating up all the resources.

That said, OS 6 will rock on the 9700 as see on leaked videos as it outperforms the 9800 even though it has half the processor speed and RAM.

But if you want my honest advice.

Wait for the 9780 next month and get that.

That phone looks like the 9700 but has double the memory and processor speed.

I wish I didn't buy my 9700 now I have to keep it for at least 1 to 2 years...oh well....it is the best phone I ever owner hands down.

Smokes any Nokia, iPhone, Sasung, Android, you name it

Even though it has "double the hardware specifications"?

I switched back also.

Yeah; thats what ive been hearing.

I only got to play with the torch for a few min, but i did get a "meh" impression of the screen.

Ive been using touch screen mobile devices since 2000 and i have yet to see a working touch screen. Even the iphone is hit and miss for me.

Oh well. It's good to hear that you got what you wanted out of it!

Hey what hybrid OS are you running? I have 5.0.0.4xx something and I'm looking to upgrade my OS but uncertain of a solid one.
