Default Nokia BB Connect - E70

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Recently bought 2 Nokia E70's to replace the Siemens SK65.

have the email part of things working fine, however I cannot get the BB connect side of things to work. Thus the user is searching the web via O2 WAP.

Anyone know how to get this to work, must admit bit of a novice with these devices. Other RIM handsets we use just install all this via a policy, thus they can get onto our intranet etc. But the E70 is proving slightly more difficult.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As mentioned in some earlier post(s), checking this page would be a good idea:

Hello,

Thank you for this and I did originally use this page. Installed the: Nokia S60PR2 BlackBerry Connect 6.40.0_10(.SISX, 1,7 MB). Checked the phone and it had software version 2.618.07.10.

and have BlackBerry Connect Desktop 2.1.1.22 (.zip, 16 MB) installed on the pc.

Email works but not bb connect. Any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Basically trying to get the BB browser working so when we surf the web we are going back throuhg our servers and not using the WAP service. On the RIM and SK65 devices we had a BB browser which would enable us to do this and also be able to connect to our intranet.

Can't get this to work on the E70 at the moment, read somewhere that this may not even be possible on this device, do you know if this is true?

Thanks for your help.

the SK65 was the full version of the BB sw stack running in sw on the device ('blackberry built-in' as it was originally marketed), however the E70 only supports 'connect' which is a 'lite' implementation of the BB device. With the E70 when you browse the internet then you will just go out via the handsets regular internet connection, rather than as you would with a BB, effectively 'go out' via the proxy server on your network...therefore a URL of www.intranet.mycompany.com won't work as to all intesive purposes the E70 is not behind the firewall in the same way that full BB is.

Options.
1) Tough
2) Some kind of VPN solution (if clients available for e70)
3) Dump the e70s and go with regular BB devices..
4) Go back to the sk65 paperweights (no this isn't an option)

Yet another reason why BB connect suxxs when trying to use in a business environment.. for more see BlackBerry Connect - BlackBerryFAQ

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, appreciate it.

Yes managed to finally speak to someone from Nokia and they said if you apply your blackberry server settings to the connection settings on the phone then this could still be done?

Know if this is true and what settings I would apply?

Thanks again for your help.

I do not know of any BB connect that comes with BB browser that connects with BES MDS. I do not believe such feature exist.

Perhaps you could find out the details from the Nokia person and share with us

Hi,

Yes I will happily let you know what I find out, but must admit I did not have the greatest confidence in the guy I was speaking with.

Thanks for all your help.

Default BB Connect on E70 on Cingular

Has anybody had any success running BB Connect w/BES through a US carrier? I don't seem to be able to get it running on the Cingular network...

Sorry but I think you're misinformed...as mentioned in the FAQ the current BB connect doesn't support MDS browsing.. However I learnt at WES that they'll be connect 4.0 coming out in the near future that fixes all the major issues with 3.6 Connect for enterprise use, i.e. MDS browsing, Wirless Ent Activation etc..
