Default BlackBerry Service Message

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

BESD 4.0.3.5 7290

Can anyone help/tell me why i have one user repeatedly getting this error message??

Quote:
Subject: BlackBerry Service Message

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server was unable to process a message. You can still view this message in your desktop email program. Your system administrator has been notified.
From Tthis BB Fourm i have read its a bug or something and users were recieving it 50 times a day.

This user is the only one that recievbes it (or has reported it) and i got in ONCE the other day (8700).

Can anyone tell me whats going on and how to fix this?

Thanks very much

I have seen this a couple of times. Try resending the service books to the handheld. If that doesn't work, you may have to reactivate.

These are APB messages, Ozzy...

Check out KB-03281 "What Is - Unable to process the message"
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...?nodeid=728206

Since it is just one user, most likely user's mail db is corrupted... perform maintenance on it... RIM has a KB recommending how to perform fixup, updall, compact etc..

KB-02207 "How To - Run Fixup, Updall, and Compact on a Domino database"
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...?nodeid=736193

This is a classic. Disable it with a reg hack. From the Blackberry knowledge base:

h t t p :// w w w . blackberry.com/knowledgecenter/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/8021/728075/728850/728953/How_To_-_Disable_APBs_for_BlackBerry_Enterprise_Server_2.2 _through_4.1?nodeid=1044503&vernum=0
BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.0 Service Pack 2 (4.0.2) or later is required for this change to take effect.
In the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.
Create a new DWORD value named MaxSkippedNotificationsPerDay.
Set the value data for this to 0.
In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server directory, go to subfolder Agents\APBData.
Delete the contents of the APBData folder.
This also removes all pending personal identification number (PIN) messages sent by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
If you cannot locate the APBData directory, the value of the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents\DataDirectory contains the location of the APBData directory.
Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The KB that noname linked to "KB-02207 "How To - Run Fixup, Updall, and Compact on a Domino database" can also be done without STOPING the domino server. This is a general maintence procedure.Using admin client or @ the console of the Domino server type the following:

1. load fixup mail\mailfile.nsf
2. load updall -R mail\mailfile.nsf
3. load compact -B mail\mailfile.nsf

NOTES**sub mailfile.nsf for the users mailfile name.nsf. Each of these commands take some time and have to be ran one after the other but not untill the provious one is finished. Check the Server taks to see when they are done. Average time is 5min depending on the size of the users mail file and the server. Compact may take longer.

well, even after running maintenance on the users having this problem they still experience the message. The reg hack that amcglone talks about actually works but I really dont like to DISABLE messages from the registry. If this was a personal matter then yes, but this is a business server and I would prefer it not to come back and haunt me.
I just had the users wipe and re-activate their BB and that solved the problem.
