I've noticed that Jabra claims that the JX-10 will automatically adjust the volume based on how noisy your surroundings are. While I am very pleased with the JX-10 volume level, I have never noticed that it adjusts automatically. Can any of my fellow JX-10 owners offer their experience with this?

I haven't seen that anywhere. I know that some of the Sony's claim auto volume adjustment but I don't think that the Jabra does it, at least mine doesn't. That being said there is a beta firmware floating around that might add a feature or two.

How do you install firmware on a headset?

OK, so I found a couple of spots in the documentation where it mentions auto volume adjustment but nowhere does it mention how to enable or disable this feature. I had a thought that some of the BB bluetooth functions might be overiding some of the headset features.

I can only assume that since the Jabra plugs into a USB port that the firmware can be upgraded that way but haven't done it myself.

Check Welcome To Jabra for one example. Basically you download the firmware, set the headset to receive via a sequence of pushes of the various buttons, then connect to PC via the USB or propietary USB and it will update it. I presume that some headsets with charge-only connections are non updateable,
