Default Free MSN Messenger Alternative? (Telus)

Please Login to Remove!

I know that the 8130 doesn't support MSN Messenger, which was a big bummer to find out after the purchase (not that it was a decision maker). I know I have the ability to download Google Talk (which I've used once by accident) and Yahoo! Messenger, which I know you can add your MSN buddies to.

Problem is... I don't want to add like 100 people to my Yahoo messenger for the blackberry alone.

I also don't want to buy a universal messenger if I don't have to.

If I do find a free or buy a alternative messenger, does it charge extra on my data plan (Telus people)?

Thanks.

webmessenger is free, and people seem to like it. i have not personally used this app, so i can't vouche for it. not sure if you have unlimited data plan, but this app uses data.

WebMessenger Inc.

EDIT: gotta throw in my shameless plug for JiveTalk. one-time $20 or $30 fee, and it just plain works. [/end shameless plug]

If you have the unlimited Text and Email, then you have the unlimited data too. That is what shows on my bill. I would call *611 and double check though.

Yeah, but if you check the Telus website it says "Unlimited BB Messenger".

I called the helpline and the guy told me that it's any text messenger, such as BB, Yahoo, and Google.

Although, I've called them before and one representative tried to tell me that receiving a Skype call would be charged to my outgoing calls. So I obviously, don't trust the call centre employees.
