i have a pretty much brand new blackberry torch, today 2 drinks, one a soft drink/vodka the other ice coffee tipped on the table it was on... it didnt really get into the bb i thought, there was a little on the screen and i have a pretty thick cover on it so only 2 or 3 drops got near the battery, anyway at first i turned it off and took the battery out, dried it thoroughly and left if screen facing up for about 10-20mins. i put the battery back in and it all seemed to work except some of the keys in the keyboard would type more than one letter eg, id click "e" and it would come up as "eo", so i turned it off again, removed the battery and checked for any more wetness, there wasnt any, i turned the device back on and it worked fine... about 10mins later i checked my bb again. and it was dead, when i put the battery in the keyboard lights up but the screen doesnt and there is no red light when i put it into charge... is there ANYTHING i can do? and does it sound like it's completely broken or theres a chance it will work again?
Once a BB gets wet (or even damp) and is powered on, it is likely damaged.
One thing to try - take the battery out and put the BB (covers off) into a sealed bag of rice for 3-4 days and see if the moisture can be removed.
In most cases, if one gets wet, the best bet is to replace it sooner rather than later. You just really don't know what has been damaged and how soon problems will occur.
