Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,
There are plenty of threads about the most handy apps, or most usefull, but what about the coolest apps?

Surely there must be some apps out there that you just thought "whow" when you found them?

Let me/us know!

Google Maps, with triangulation and mass transit info, each revision is very innovative.
The RexWireless software.

Of course "cool" is very much in the eye of the beholder, but the ones that make me smile the most are below...they also stand out in that the first three are the only third-party apps that my wife (Mrs. Perpetually Tech-Unimpressed) actually asked me to install on her Pearl as well...

1. BerryTunes - internet radio and podcast streamer...allows me to listen to radio and my favorite podcasts anywhere I am. Can't live w/out it.

2. Google Maps & Windows Live Search - tells me where I am, how to get to restaurants, stores, etc., and what movies are playing when/where. Street view in Google Maps on a BB has to get a very big "COOL!" vote.

3. Vlingo - voice-to-text app that lets me "write" emails and texts by talking to my BB...requires some correction before sending, but fixing a few words is a lot faster than typing a whole bunch of 'em.

4. Wattpad - doesn't look like much, but this is a simple ebook reader that allows various font sizes/colors and has adjustable auto scrolling for very good readability for me. A surprising number and range of books available.

Sorry - nothing too flashy, but way cool in my book.

Oh, I neglected to mention the RexWireless product line as well. I havent purchased RexConnect but it WILL be my next purchase without a doubt. Their apps almost seem too gosh darned amazing and I've never heard of a bad experience with their products...

1. Viigo - I read it twice a day and keep current on just about everything. I also use it to track my flights when I travel.

2. Remember the Milk - I have their gadget (or whatever it is called) embedded on my Google Mail screen and their app on my BB, allowing me to wirelessly sync my tasks. That was the final step for me in ditching Outlook all together. And of course the Google sync app on my BB lets me wirelessly sync my calender and contacts. It is nice, as a BIS user, to have all my important things sync automatically and wirelessly.

Is the Wattpad stored on the memory card or device? What about the books? THANKS

I think bbTracker is pretty cool. I like being able to hike or drive to new and unfamiliar places and then download to Google Earth exactly where I've been. Makes it easier to tell friends about my trips, too. Cool because it's useful and free and the tracks look awesome when uploaded to Google Earth

There is no option in the settings to choose device or memory card.

However, it actually seems to stream the books...there is a pause every once in a while when it gets more content from the server. It remembers your place and allows you to skip forwards and backwards by % or by scrolling. I don't think it's saving too much on the phone other than the list of books you've downloaded maybe, and some portion of what you're reading, but I could be wrong...

You'd have to try it to see what's available...I've seen stuff from Pride and Prejudice and other Jane Austin novels to the new release in a series of fantasy books I read w/my kids (Eragon - stuff w/dragons and elves, was made into a movie last year).

There is also some bizarre stuff - at first I thought I found a new Harry Potter book on their list, but it turned out to be some weird kind of soft-core porn rip-off based on the Harry Potter characters.

Viigo is awesome. Cool, useful, infinitely customizable. Remember that you don't have to stick to the feeds it shows in it's menu, you can add ANY page with an RSS feed.

Live Search from Microsoft is pretty cool too. I use it all the time.

Yep, go to google.com from your mobile browser and download the gmail mobile app. Should only have to do that once.

Possibly not a popular one around here but RIM's Facebook application is pretty tasty. It ties in neatly with your mail so you dont get the new mail alert but instead an unobtrusive Facebook alert. Its ease of use is to the point that I'd rather browse Facebook on my BB instead of on a desktop or laptop.
