Thumbs down Questions about 9330?

Please Login to Remove!

My company just upgraded from the 8330 to the 9330 and I have discovered that the phone is impossible!

Why is the screen divided into 5 sections but wallpaper can only be changed on the middle one? I like a light background so the cursor is easier to see on the fly. Can this be done?

Is there any way to get rid of the All/Favorites/Media/Downloads/Frequent scroll bar and just have All? I am forever scrolling someplace that I do not want to be. It makes the phone much harder to use!

Why did they get rid of the track ball and go to this pad that gives no tactile feedback? It is almost impossible to stop at the right place!

Why does it take two buttons to get the full icon display when my 8330 only took one?

Why did they make the shift keys so small? They are useless!

Why did they make the send/end key row buttons keyless? There again no tactile feedback so you have to look at the phone to make sure that you are pressing in the right place!

Why can't all of the messages be displayed in the Messages folder? My 8330 displayed everything in the one list there including phone call information.
Checking more than one folder for messages is a pain.

Why does it take so long to update the phone? I spent over an hour and a half today tied to my desk updating the NEW phone and it still needed another 1/2 hour at least! We have a T1 so why does it take so long?

The 8330 did everything that I needed and was easy to use without a lot of meaningless key punching. I just wanted a better camera and more speed for the mapping download function. I do not think that I chose the right upgrade. This phone is for work and playing with it like a teenage is not what I am interested in.

Any suggestions?

Either give the phone a chance or go back to your 8330. It is not the same device, and isn't supposed to be. If you don't like it, try something else.

I suggest you look around for different themes, which may change some of the home screen annoyances you have.

You company made the change? Are there others who actually like the changes and you don't? When I upgraded to the 9330 it had OS5.0 installed. I recently upgraded to the 6.0 version and I think that is what you started with. Yes, it is very different, but as said above, give it a chance.

I actually like many of the features and have found ways around others.

In my opinion, the worst thing you could do right now is use an upgraded/updated device and expect it to work the way your old one did. You will always be disappointed and you will never learn anything new.

Believe it or not some new things might actually be good.

Just a thought.......

It is easy to get rid of the different panels and only use "All".
From the home screen, click the menu key and scroll down to Manage Panels.
Uncheck the ones you don't want to see.

First thing I did when I got my 9930. Of course I'd get my old thumbwheel back too if I could.

Is this a OS7 feature?

It sure is. One of my MAJOR peeves with the 9800.
I was thrilled it was included in OS7.

Well, crap. I was pretty excited about that, too.

Thank all of you for your replies.

However;

The OS7 ugrade is not available for the 9330 so managing the panels is still not possible.

I have come to the conclusion that the wheel was a problem for women because of the goopy hand lotion that clogged the wheel! My girl friend admitted that she had to have hers replaced twice.

My main complaints about the new phone are the user interface problems. We are a contacting company so the phones are used constantly while we are on the road and the old phone allowed me to use the phone by feel instead of having to look at the screen constantly.

Most of us are contractors not techies so we are not facinated by the newest technology - this is a tool to us like a fancy hammer. Our one tech head on staff went for the Droid and he loves it.

I have reviewed all available options thoroughly and made al of the adjustments that I can but the touch pad and the five section screen are still a pain.

Maybe they will go to OS7 for this soon.

Sorry - I read 9930, which comes with OS 7. OS 7 will not be available for the 9330.
