Default BES admin service and web console wont display

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

Been having this problem for about a month now.

I can't access the Admin Service or the Web Console.

I have tried lots of fixs from people such as changing the port and checking all the ports are free etc.

Also i reset all my services

All phones on the server work fine.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

What is the exact error? Are the services running? See any info in the logs?

When we try to open up admin services or web console in IE we get the error "internet explorer cannot display the webpage"

All services are currently running.

What logs do you mean? The BESX logs on the logs in event viewer?

The BAS logs under RIM\BESX\logs

Have you updated Java? Has BAS ever worked?

Not sure what to look for in the logs but everything seems normal.

We installed around march time and it has worked fine up until last month. I updated java last week and i also uninstalled and reinstalled it today just incase, still nothing.

You should have BAS-AS and BAS-NC. Do they show errors?

Also since you mentioned Java update have you verified the Java path in the reg is set properly?

The java paths are all correct.

Also i had a check at the logs this morning and here is a small snippet from the BAS-AS log

I think my java is messed up, not sure how to fix this though. Done a java update and i have also repaired BESX and still nothing.

The weirdest thing about this problem is that it just happened by itself, i havn't installed anything on the server since BESX was installed.

:(:(:(

Check the registry. Look for HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Blackberry MDS Connection Services. Look for ImagePath. Check what is listed there. There is a listing there for the location of jvm.dll. Ensure that is the correct path for where the current jvm.dll is located.

Turn off auto update of Java and dont update it. It will cause you headaches..

Default anyone seen a variation of this issue

I have something similar going on ... BESX 5.0.2 running on W2k8 w/ SQL 2005 - running as VM.

My issue is that I can only load the web desktop console and administration page locally from the server.

If I try to load from a workstation, I get a Page Cannot Be Displayed error.

Windows Firewall is disabled, so that's not the issue.

Anyone ever seen this?

Default Same Issue

I'm believe I'm experiencing the same issue. Everything was working well with BESX 5.0.1 running on Windows 2008 R2 and then suddenly the web console stopped working. The Application Server and Native Code Container start, climb to about 60-65 Megs or RAM usage and then crashes. I tried upgrading to BESX 5.0.2 but that didn't resolve the issue with the webconsole. Then I tried changing the Java location with no success. I even tried adding some ReservedPorts 48855-48858, 45588-45588, 49955-49955, 45599-45599 as suggested on one site. IIS is not installed on this server creating the port conflict. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BBAS-NCC and the BBAS-AS log only contains this information:
(09/21 11:03:30:369):{main} [com.arjuna.ats.jbossatx.jta.TransactionManagerServ ice] [INFO] JBossTS Transaction Service (JTA version) - JBoss Inc.

I gave the paths a check and they are all pointing to the same jvm.dll so nothing wrong on that side.

Im not sure if uninstalling BESX and doing a full reinstall would do the trick. The only problem of doing this is, if it doesn't solve and i have a bunch of unusable blackberry devices :(

How do i check for port conflicts even though i don't think it could be that.

This is the port i use.

I'm not as familiar with BESX as I am with BES. I'm running a remote SQL DB and I have had to run a full uninstall and reinstall to resolve an issue. Id think as long as you don't remove the BES DB you should be fine doing a reinstall.

IMHLAR - I had a very similar issue that was some corrupt java files and RIM suggested I do a full un-install and reinstall to resolve it.

I was able to figure out my issue with the web console. I determined that the issue occurred on Microsoft's patch Tuesday. It ended up being caused by the Windows update KB981852. I don't know what that update does, but I uninstalled it and reboot the server. After that, BESX web console began working immediately. BAS-AS and BAS-NC no longer crash. Now BAS-AS consumes over 500 Megs and BAS-NC consumes just over 100 Megs of memory as appears to be correct. Thanks for the suggestions.

I resolved my issue too. A long support call with RIM didn't really help. They did ask me to check if KB981852 was installed, but that wasn't my issue so it didn't really apply.

My solution was this:

This server is hosted for us by a third party. As such, they have an alternate NIC installed so they can do backups and monitoring etc. Their tech noticed that he was able to access the web pages remotely by using the IP address of their NIC. Using this info, I went to the Advanced Settings of the Network Connections and set our NIC to be above theirs in the list. I also noticed that for our NIC, IPv6 was set above IPv4. I changed this too, restarted the BAS services, and now it's working.
