Default Is it worth buying Extended Life Battery for Storm?

Please Login to Remove!

Owned the Storm for a year now. It works fine but I am noticing the battery seems to drain faster during the course of a day.

I know I need to buy a new battery.

However, should I buy a standard battery thats costs around $12 (with shipping) or the extended life battery (Seidio) thats costs around $60.

That's quite a price difference and I'm wondering if it's justifieid or not.

Was wondering if anyone has experience regarding these premium batteries and how they compare?

Please let me know. Thanks.

angelot, I'd stick with the standard battery, AND grab an additional auto or wall charger for $20-25 at the same time, for the location where you don't have one in which you can top off your charge from time to time. Ten minutes of additional charging during the day can add 25-40% to the daily battery life.

Thank you for the input.

Most of the time that would work fine. However, I have some days where I am traveling via air and would not have access to a charger during the day.

Given the price, I could buy an extra battery for another $12 and keep that with me.

Do they sell a device that would allow me to charge a spare battery? Perhaps this would be a more cost effective solution?

What do you think?

If you are flying, why not just turn it off? Plug it into your laptop to charge when able as well.

I keep my 9000 plugged in all the time just to keep the battery topped off. But rarely do I go all day without access to a charger in some form - wall, laptop, or car.

It looks like I can buy a replacement battery for about $6 from various Hong Kong Sites on Ebay?

Are these legit? Any difference between the batteries these vendors sell and the battery I would buy in a local Verizon store?

Please let me know. Thanks.

I bought a $6 battery from Amazon ($11 with shipping) and it has worked flawlessly so far... the battery seems original and legit... no marks on the connectors that indicate previous use and also unharmed water-damage-sticker

I make it a practice of ditching the stock batteries for all my cell phones from jump. I purchased a 2 Chinese batteries and am still running the same ones. One is always sitting at my desk on a charger. I still get a day and a half from each battery with phone calls, extensive emailing, and running the Yahoo messenger all day.

The extended battery price for the Storm is exorbitant. Before buying that one, I would buy a third battery and carry an extra fully charged one in my handbag or pocket.

Nice! I was just going to post that same thing. That's what I use, a back up charged battery. That way if I come home and head back out, I can grab the backup battery and swap out when the other one gets low. I always take it on trips out of town. And for those of you that have always wondered what that small pocket was for in your jeans on the right pocket, its for that battery....well I know that pocket has been around for decades, but I like to think someone had a time machine int he 80's and traveled forward and saw that the Blackberry battery would fit right in there. LOL

Based on the opinions here, I bought a new battery on Amazon for about $9. Decided that the extended life version at over $50 was not worth it. I kept my old one and have it fully charged ready to go in case I need it.

The difference between the new battery and my original one after a year is quite noticeable.

Thanks.
