Unable to play long 3GP recordings

Hi, I have an 8900 and I am trying to record half an hour video clips.
I end up with clips of around 4 GB, that I am unable to play.
When I try to play the clip on the phone the phone would just reboot. When trying to play the clip in any SW able to handle 3GP the PC would work for a very long time (20 mins or so), after which it will display nothing, but the progress bar would start moving. This happens with both QuickTime and Real Player. Converters do not work, with weird errors.
When QT or Real play the file (after the very long wait) I am able to hear the sound, albeit a bit distorted. NO VIDEO whatsoever.
What gives, and what can I do? I have a really key video that I need to repair/ get working.
