Default How can I separate Corporate and Personal Email on BlackBerry Handheld

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have BES server 4.1, all my active users receive their corporate and other personal mails on the same mail box on their hand held, at the same time all their personal mail goes to respective mail folders. Is there any way I can also redirect/store corporate email in separate mail box in blackberry hand held.

Thanks & Regards
Suresh

I assume by personal email, you mean email coming in via a BIS account.

In which case the short answer is no - 'messages' will hold all messages both BIS and BES, and only the BIS accounts will have separate mail folders.

In 4.3 HH O/S then I think this problem is resolved and you can have a separate 'BES' only messages folder - might need SP5 on the BES too..

Go to Empower Your BlackBerry and do a trial of Empower BES Mailbox. It will let you see just your BES messages.

when I did this on my device, It created 2 email messages icon (one for Corporate and 1 for personal). But if you look at the corporate one, it also includes the personal ones - but if you looked at the Personal email messages icon, it only lists personal ones.

i wasnt able to filter them away from corporate one.

it does not allow you to do it that way as far as I know. The messages is a general mailbox and the 2nd and 3rd mailbox are BIS Specific, which shows only bis messages.

This is going to be a feature of OS 4.3 .. email fed will be totally seperate. Now it's still all in the messages bucket.

No word on BES 5.0 is required.

I haven't seen this on 4.3.1 yet. I'm on BES 4.1.3, though.

The BES Mailbox app from Empower is the best option at this point.

One thing which I have done which doesn't truly "separate" them, but helps you distinguish them, is to go to Options -> Security Options -> General Settings and to change the message background for non-enterprise messages.

Works for me!

I love doing this change for the users. They love the candy cane colors!

I may be wrong but the 4.1 OS does not have this, only the 4.2--For the handheld.

Default Separating Personal and Corporate Mail

It seems the solution lies in the provider of your personal mail. I really don't like the way Gmail works, but you can access it directly from your BlackBerry, i.e., no connection with BIS. On the other hand it would appear the only way to get Yahoo Mail is for them to push it through BIS -- which means it shows up mixed in with your business mail -- UGH!!

Thanks for bumping a year old thread. In BES 4.1 SP5 or above, you can have an icon show up for the corporate mail services (named 'Desktop'). You can then hide your 'Messages' icon and use the 'Desktop' icon and other icons ('user@gmail.com', 'user@yahoo.com', etc) as this wanted separation.

This is an all-or-nothing feature within the BES domain, so I would recommend taking the proper measures with regards to documentation of 'user experience' and communications to end users to make them aware of this new icon/service as to avoid confusion (more important on larger environments).

Turn on or turn off the Enterprise-Only Message Application icon in BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.5

This is a good idea - but I can't find background color changing options under Security Options. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Default Outline Colors not working

I have email from corporate via BES and personal via BIS (yahoo).

I have two folders on my blackberry receiving messages:
Messages
Yahoo

The Yahoo receives just Yahoo messages while Messages receive both corporate and Yahoo.

I have attempted to change the outline color as instructions previously posted:
Options
Security Options
General Settings
Message outline colours: set Enterprise to None and set Other Messages to blue.
Menu
Save
Menu
Close

Messages, to my yahoo account, are not outlined. I have changed the color thinking I just couldn't see the outline perhaps...no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

. I have only marked the yahoo to be colored, not the other

Did you open the email yahoo email? the colors shows up as the background for the actual email, not in the inbox that lists the emails recieved.

Default Yes

You need to install BES 4.1.6 ru4 and 4.5 OS on your Blackberry.
