This is weird, I just used bb map yesterday and an hour later on the icon just disappear from the screen. Just wondering anyone else having the same issue.
I'm with att, using after market themes and os 4.6.0.247.
I tried to deleted and install it again using dm and change to street fighter themes and still not pop up. Re-send service book doesn't do anything.
Any help or have same issue and know how to fix this would be really apreciate it.

Yeah, mine disappeared a few days ago. I noticed on Friday, March 13, though when I think about it, Thursday night it had disappeared. Some apps that *call* BBMaps can still do so, but results in a dialog popping up on a white screen saying "Maps has been disabled". If I leave the popup there, and hit the app-switcher (left button for me), I see the BBMaps icon as the first in the list, but it's nowhere to be found on the device. "Show all" shows nothing, no folders have it, etc. It still shows up on the list of installed apps, but is totally useless now.
What really makes this a pain is that BBMessenger, the Flickr app, SameCell, etc, all expect it to be there, so I've lost a lot of functionality now, thanks to it disappearing. I'm 99.99% certain it's AT&T having pushed out a new service book for BBMaps, having realized that people probably weren't paying the $10/mo for their offering.
I'm making do with Google Maps, but since none of the RIM-supplied apps, and most of the other apps that make use of mapping will utilize it, it's net exactly a perfect solution. Presumably, the BBMaps from 4.2 OS should be installable the way it is for 4.5 OS Curves on AT&T, but that might be more effort than it's worth.

Yeah, you're not the only ones - AT&T did that to everyone on Friday - I noticed it was missing then.

I'm assuming no one's found a work-around, or tried the 4.5 OS work-around of using the 4.2 (non-service book) version of maps yet?

you sort of use it, like when you send you location from bb mesenger it uses the bbmaps interface to do it. add yourself TO YOU BBM LIST and try it...

Signalloc
I have signalloc utility installed on my unit and even though there is no Blackberry Maps icon anywhere, when I select signlalloc to show my location on maps it pulls up Blackberry Maps.
Signalloc is avialalbe at:
SourceForge.net: Signal-Location Utility for BlackBerry: Files

Really? I had to switch to Google Maps to get any maps to show up in Signalloc. Using Blackberry Maps, I get the "Maps has been disabled" dialog box. So not happy.

Odd, I just tested, and that DOES seem to work, but appears to be basically the only place that it does, as an embedded map in the BB Messenger conversation. Now I have to see if it still works w/ geo-tagging for the camera.
Such a pain in the ATT.

I just went thru the process of reinstalling the OS to get BB maps for the first time. I cannnot find the icon for BB maps but Weatherbug and Poynt can access BBmaps. I guess I will be happy with what I got. My apps work as advertised and I guess I will use google maps for directions.
