Default Upgraded to 5.0.0.822 and now no sound or vibrations for alerts

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded to 5.0.0.822 and now when I get texts or phone calls the phone doesn't ring or vibrate but the LED does flash. I've checked my profiles and everything seems to be in order but when I click "Try It" at the bottom I only get the LED.

I have played music through the speakers so I know that the speakers work OK.

Any suggestions?

OK, so I got the vibration to work but still nothing on the ringtones. I've tried the phone's default as well as my own from the media card and nothing.

Have you tried a battery pull?

I tried a battery pull originally and it didn't work. I installed and removed a few programs then I did another battery pulled and that restored sound. However, over the weekend there were two more occasions when the ringtones stopped working again and I had to do a battery pull to get them to work again.

Any clue why it would randomly lose ringtone functionality like that?

Is there any pattern, or anything consistently occurring at the same time you lose the ringtone function?

Are the ringtone files in main memory or on the media card?

I'm just looking for some clue. Don't know the answer.

Yeah, that seems to be similar to my situation. When I mess with my profiles to configure ringing/vibrating is when I notice that I've suddenly lost sound. Maybe it's just a bug. Everything else works so nice that I don't see this as a reason to downgrade back to an old OS.

I had same problem and I also noticed that Device Memory status was "not accessible" or similar in Options->Memory when I lost ringtones. Reboot helped.

I think issues is with Device Memory.

Mine does the same thing as well since OS upgrade- about every 12 hours the ringers not only quit, but my memory drops from 25 Mb to 5 or 6 mb. Battery pull at night and in the morning solve it, but it is extremely aggrivating. I'd try the trick in the above youtube link, but there's no point because I would still have the memory issue.

ya...this is not a hardware problem. ringer worked perfectly on 4.6. ringer worked perfectly on other versions of 5.0.

ringer stopped working on .822. Reverted back to an older 5.0 version and ringer is working again.

software problem--not hardware.

i advise AGAINST doing this.

Me too... after upgrading. There are 2 BB 9000's in the home and they are both doing it. I just do a live battery pull and it comes back. Hopefully there will be a update to fix it soon...

After the upgrade to 5.0.822, I also have the sound problems. like others of said - if I change sounds it just stops all sounds (like ringing). The only way to fix this is with a battery pull, then it all begins again!
I am also have problems set ring-tones for individual people. I have set a ring-tone up for a Friends incoming calls and it will not ring that tone! it says it is the default for him, but plays something different and not even the default ring tone?...... other then that I love OS 5.0!

after the 5.0 upgrade, i too have sound problems. pulling battery didn't seem to solve for me. i mainly want the classic ringer, instead of at&t's default. i can get vibration to work for phone, but not the classic ringer i want. still haven't figured out

what follows is bold clock alarm problem i experienced overnight. i am posting in case it might somehow aid someone smarter to understand what the problem is (problems are).

i have been using my bold's clock alarm for weekdays for some time now without problem. my bold's clock alarm did not ring this morning and i overslept. here's how i figured out i caused it

yesterday in Options / Sound and Ring Tones the Ring Tone had been saved as AT&T Tune. i have been wanting the Ringer_ClassicPhone everywhere, so i changed the Ring Tone to Ringer_ClassicPhone and took the All Profiles default. this morning i was not awakened as usual by my bold's alarm (no sound came out). i returned to Options / Sound and Ring Tones and then reset the Ring Tone to AT&T Tune, and after that, my bold's alarm made the usual sound again (under Clock Options, i have the Alarm Tune set to BBPro_VintageAlarm)

so confusing to me.

Could you specify which OS version have you downgraded to? I am having ringtone issue too and wanted to downgrade to another version. Previously I was using 4.6.
