their is the only one who runs a native one that i know of is tmobile you can use the rim one on their network.

besides that theirs some free data usage clients like webmessenger
theirs some that cost like jivetalk, im+

and theirs some that use sms, like i belive mobileIM and i think im+ has that option also.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

AIM doesn't work with my VZW, so I use Jive Talk.

its from carrier to carrier dependent, vz/sprint/att aim from rim don't work, its not just att, and the telenav is just a short cut same as media net icon thats, best bet is just make a folder and put all the att stuff into it.

but you have some alternatives some free, some pay(one time fee) and some that use sms. i forgot to add their are more then just mobileIM or sms aim i just cant think of any since i don't use sms.

Yes it is available for download on AT&T. In one app you get AIM, Yahoo, and Windows Messenger.

Open up MediaNet, and search for 'Mobile IM'. It's a terrible app, but that's up to you to decide. There's bubble style chat available on Jive Talk.

As for browsing, you don't have to use MediaNet. I just hide it.

If you open media net and type in the search field "oz" it will bring you to a category list then go to mail & messaging and mobil I'm is the first choice. It will install a aol/msn/yahoo client. Now if I am correct the client does not use data but sms so if you don't have a txt plan I would be careful. As for a browser most people run the bb browser not the media net link.

It uses the data plan to allow you to browse the sites.

You can use a BlackBerry w/out a BB data plan but only for voice, sms and any other functions. If you want to surf the web, send/recieve email you'll need a BlackBerry data plan through your service provider.

I just wanted to say, that I have been using JiveTalk since beta. I've used ALL the other chat apps out there and JiveTalk is the absolute best!

Is anybody else having a problem synching up their AIM contacts between their pc and the Curve? The buddy list on the curve seems incomplete.
