I haven't got nor have ever had a "voice search" capability with Google Maps. Maybe it's location dependent?

I did the upgrade a few days ago and didn't notice any voice search component. I will check again.

To find Voice Search, open Google Maps and press the left-side convenience key. Voice search will launch.

Voice search was also in 2.3.1...it is not new in 2.3.2.

In 2.3.1 Voice Search didn't work on my VZW Pearl with the available OS versions, now on OS 4.5.0.97 (beta release) on my 8130 Google Maps voice search does work, which is nice. Don't know if it would have also worked on 4.5.0.89 (the most recent release) - didn't try it on that version.

I think it was mentioned that 2.3.1 didn't work with pucks. I'm here to say that pucks still don't work... at least for me. Furthermore, it screwed up BBmaps and Nav4all, so neither would work. Had to reboot.

Can an older version be found, i.e. prior to 2.3.1? Which ever number that was, voice search worked and had no issues talking with my puck.

GM v2.3.1 does not work on OS 4.5.0.89, either. But GM v2.3.2 does.

Also, with 2.3.2, you can use the left-side convenience key OR the Send key (i.e. the button with the green phone handset icon on it). And you can initiate the Voice search while on the Map screen, or you can choose Menu/Search Map and then do it from the search dialog (though I don't know why you would, when you can do it directly from the map screen).

Thanks for confirming how things go/4.5.0.89. Good to know they've fixed it in 2.3.2 for earlier OS's.

The Menu/Search Map option to use Voice Search is there in 2.3.1 as well.

Anyone on TMo with their OS 4.5.0.81 try google maps 2.3.2? I can't seem to get voice to work. It keeps going to the blackberry voice command screen. Even with my previous OS (4.2.2) I had to find a specific version of maps (2.2.2) to get voice. Anyone have any luck?

Did you check your side convenience key? It may be set to VAD, which may be conflicting w/Google using it for Voice Search. You could try remapping that convenience to another program, or mapping it to nothing.

I tried remapping it to nothing. It still doesn't bring up voice search. I'm sad that it doesn't work with the new OS now.

Likely just a bug-fix release...seems like they may have improved the compatibility of the voice search feature w/earlier versions of the 4.5 OS.

This is probably a very minor detail.... but is anyone else slightly annoyed with the google maps icon on the bold? in 2.3.2, the background transparency is slightly darker than all the other icons... lol perhaps I am a bit OCD... but its driving me nuts!

I'm guessing it's only available on 81xx devices unless you read that thread on the matter (loading GM with voice on a non-81xx).
