Default 'Messages' app showing 'All Mail' from Gmail

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've set my partner up with access to her Gmail on her Bold 9000 and things are working reasonably well--the deleted/read sync is fairly slow (this seems to be expected, though, as it seems to have been an issue for quite a while now).

The issue is that in the 'Messages' app, i.e. the one that aggregates all mail accounts, SMS, BBM, etc., it seems to be showing the equivalent of 'All Mail' from the Gmail account set up in BIS. This seems undesirable, because what should really be seen here is the Gmail 'Inbox'. It becomes an issue when she applies one or more labels to a message, but removes it from the inbox in the Gmail webUI; the message continues to appear in 'Messages' on the Berry. Furthermore, there seems to be no ability to select which folders/labels are displayed in the Messages app.

It's worth noting that, when accessing the account through its dedicated BIS icon, things work the way they should, and the Enhanced Gmail plugin also works correctly. However, that sort of defeats the purpose of the 'Messages' app.

Anyone have any suggestions? I've been through all the settings and Googled extensively, to no avail.

Thanks, and cheers,

-Paul

For the main Messages app, folders are only supported for BES. If you want that extra functionality on BIS it's best to use the stand-alone GMail App and delete the account from the main Mail app.

Wow, that is a bummer. I'm not sure what's more irritating--the fact that they didn't bother to support folders/labels, which is pretty easy to do with IMAP, or the fact that they elected to display 'All Mail', instead of the inbox. Way to push more users over to iPhone or Android, both of which talk to Gmail perfectly via either IMAP, ActiveSync or C2DM. BES is fantastic, but not all of us are in a position to have (or have access to) that kind of infrastructure.
