I know of a free unit converter but its midlet application, il give it a try with my phone and tell you it works.

But if want something fast use Google calculator. It does all kinds of measurement conversions.

example type this in Google : 5 inches in mm

heres another one

example type this in Google : 5 grams in ounces

Here's a basic one that works just fine on my Pearl:

http://www.getjar.com/products/4193/UnitConverter

It doesn't really do force conversions like a more advanced converter, but it handles a plethora of the basics (weight. mass, distance, velocity, even hex/octal/etc.)

I haven't tried this one, just found it via GetJar while getting you the other URL; it apparently does Force, and is GPL (open source) to boot:

http://www.getjar.com/products/6737/ELC
http://simonepernice.freehostia.com/J2ME/ELC/elc.html

I'm about to download it and give it a whirl...

EDIT: it installs fine but fails to run, I've written an email to the author witht he error in hopes we can get it working. I'll try and followup if I get a response...

I find the built-in Blackberry Calculator program useful for (a limited number of) metric-English, and vice versa conversions. Just enter a number, push the trackwheel, and select a conversion.

I use the standard BB calculator program to convert some units.

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

What drives me nuts is simple calculator converters do cm, not mm. Sure it's a decimal off, but who uses cm anyway?

ELC crashy mccrashes on me, the author sent me a reply that he thinks it's the code obsfucation being used when he builds. He said he'd try and get time to look at it, but is busy right now. *shrug*
