Ok ok ok...I really need some feedback here!

I am with os v5.0.0.860 and having problems in slow GPS discovering, not at all modem functionality (with both USB and Bluetooth connections), and I am unable to open and read old saved SMS!!!

Is this happening with this last os version????
I have the GPS problem....I do not have SMS issues, and I have not tried "modem" use.

The GPS problems are really obvious....I asked this question in the OS specific string but no one else has answered yet.

Updated to 592, had to run loader.exe twice as per original post. Restored mail, contacts and bluetooth settings. Seems good so far.
But I can not download any apps. All fail on download with "907 Invalid COD", including BB App World, Google Maps. App World says it is installed but no icon. I tried to remove via DM and loader but it will not remove.

Any suggestions ?

Further update:
- ALL ring tones/alerts say "invalid ring tone selected, please make another selection"
- video player does not allow repeat to be selected.

I will try a full restore from backup files, but if that doesn't work I will have to revert to older version.

Or you can wipe the device and reinstall this version. Something may have happened during the installation.

Default No issues here either

Over 48 hours and no issues. Battery life went a little shorter the first day but I was monkeying with the phone to check it all out. Yesterday and today battery life is no better and no worse.

I would like to be able to get rid of Blackberry Messenger. Any ideas?

Default Download to a Mac

I have tried this download on a Mac but the file I got is certainly not what I expected from a previous OS upgrade on a PC. Does this work on the Mac and if yes how? Many thanks.

Since the OS new requirement for password in order for the keyboard lock to kick-in was mentioned in the thread I thought it would be relevant to announce the new BEIKS Keyboard Locker 2 which resolves this problem:

BEIKS' new Keyboard Locker 2 for BlackBerry puts a stop to random calls in latest BlackBerry OS version

No unless you are running windows side by side.

I tried the last several versions of 5.0, but continued to have issues with garbled calls on AT&T. Happened several times a day. I went back to 4.6 (that's a bit of a pain) and no more garbled calls in the last 2 weeks.

I liked some of the new features (chat-type texting and new BB messenger), but the garbled call thing was a deal killer.

Anyone else who had this issue jumped into this release yet?

Just updated from .509 to this version because the SMS was a little buggy for me. So far so good, with that.

Battery life has been ok, a little disappointed about the mandatory inclusion of BB Messenger but that certainly isn't a deal breaker.

I've only been on this latest version for a short while with limited conversations but so far so good. Previous versions of 5.0 I had the occasional garbled calls as well. It was almost always fixed by reconnecting to my caller. (Edited to add - I'm on AT&T as well)

There is probably an app running in the background. Run the app switcher and close all background apps.

So the big question is does this build fix the call quality issues that plague most of the 5.0 releases????

After this is a phone first, without call quality everything else is secondary!

I would like to know a few things:
  1. does music EQ work?
  2. does opening OLD saved sms work (I mean saved in os 4.6)?
  3. can GPS find My Location quick?
  4. does Google Maps or GMail still have problem in identifying the network and so resulting with a "No Under Internet Connection" error (or something similar)?

1. yes
2. yes (make sure you backup in case they get lost)
3. yes (os 5.0 has a new feature where it can find your location quicker)
4. I don't that problem with os 5.0, never had the problem with 4.6

Wirelessly posted (8100 Pearl)

I have never understood if os 5 has the option to disable threaded SMS or the capability to protect a specific person chat session from beeing deleted even if confirmation nag screen is enabled.

Clicking quick on the BB might cause bad things...
