Default Arugh! My display is broken! :(

Please Login to Remove!

I decided to take the battery out of the phone and put it back in again for my daily reset on the phone.

When I put the battery back in, the display does not work anymore! :(

My phone does have insurance but I think I have to pay more than $100 to get another one though. I hate to do that considering the Blackberry 8300 Curve is coming out at the end of September.

Please do not say it will come out sooner because that simply not true because of the 90 days exclusive contract between RIM and AT&T.

So I probably will go to T-mobile and get a cheapo phone for now and use my Blackberry 8100 to tether to my laptop since that part still works.

Why don't you take apart and check the connector for the LCD screen. It's easy to check and that little ribbon cable can disconnect or become misaligned.

There's a how to on YouTube and also in some threads on BBF.

Worth a shot.

Also, if the display is truly shot [meaning it is not the motherboard] a new display online is only about $90 or so.

An update, I went to T-mobile to get a cheapo phone for now.

I got back to the house and than I called the T-mobile's insurance.

I found it odd that they asked me if I drop it in water and how many times I drop the phone on hard floor.

Ummm... I got insurance for the phone so it should cover no matter what I do with the phone. Unless they change how the insurance works now. Maybe I should start looking for another insurance company to go for.

Anyway, I talk to the lady for a while. I even asked her if I have to pay anything to get another phone. She says that I probably don't have to do that. She transfer me to the technician department. The guy told me that they are currently updating their computers so they have to call me back. So I gave him my phone number and they will call me back.

Here's a weird thing happen to me.

When I transfer my SIM card back to the Blackberry 8100, the phone doesn't work anymore. So I took the battery out and put it back in again. All of a sudden the display is back on again.

That's a good thing! But I am afraid it will happen again so when they call me back, I will see if I can still get a replacement.

I keep everyone updated on this.

Sounds like a loose connection just as someone above said.

Most phone insurances dont cover water damage. That is why the agent was asking you if you dropped it in water.
