Unhappy Bad battery life all of a sudden Tmo

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

8700 on Tmobile never has less then 2 or 3 bars of battery charge on it by the end of the day for me. Yesterday by 5pm I was in the red. And today after charging overnight, I have 1 bar left after taking only 3 short phone calls and it's only 3pm.

I received a "OTA OK" message from +19924727669 on Thursday on my phone. Did I get some upgrade that has hosed my phone? I have had no other problems or service changes with Tmo. for many months. My company has BES for my main e-mail and I use BIS for 2 other accounts. I don't want to go buy a new battery because I really don't think this one went bad overnight.

The About screen shows my version to be: 4.1.0.284, platform 2.0.0.120.

Any suggestions? Haven't called Tmo yet.

Thanks.

press ALT and Escape and see what other programs are running in the background... Google Maps, BB Maps, some game, etc, ? Anything that you think might cause battery drain?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.. No, nothing out of the ordinary for me is running. I just popped the battery off to reset it to see if that makes a difference.

It's such a huge difference in batt life, I'm amazed.

Do 2-3 complete discharge/charge cycles. Do not use the device while it's on the charger. Do not interrupt the charging cycle.

Most likely, your phone is out of sync with the battery circuitry. "Training" your phone by deep cycle discharge/charge will reset it.

And a big "Whatever" to those who constantly quote "battery university" or whatever sites... regarding deep cycle discharges/charges.

Seriously, would this would happen overnight? I watch the battery in this thing closely as my whole life is in there. It is a lithion ion battery.

I'll try it over the weekend.... I need to charge it a little to stay alive at least until 5pm.

Thanks.

Hi again,

I hate to say it, but popping the battery off to reset the phone worked. Battery life went back to normal the rest of the evening and weekend days since. So not sure what happened there, but it's back.

Thanks for the suggestions--will keep that in mind as the battery ages.

Working in the wireless industry I can assure you that sometimes batteries will go bad. Even sometimes it seems like overnight. For no apparent reason a battery will just quit, even if another one just like it goes for 3 or 4 years strong. Unfortunately, your carrier might not insure its battery under the 1yr manaf. warranty, so be sure to check with them first if you run in to a similar issue

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

It certainly sounds like something hosed your phone and if you did get some sort of OTA update, then I would definitely get in touch with TMobile because that is some crap.
