This problem is on all product forums. Poeple want quick answers so they ask the pros. I run a forum in a completly different field and it used to frustrate me. Now it just makes me happy that I can help people.
I think pizzle has a good point.

i have read through all the thoughts above and i still come to think that...

most people, especially new people would rather have a little guide or cheat sheet right in front of them, instead of asking one questions... and in asking that one question write... "please go easy on me, i am new".

Surely we could answer or summarize the top 15 noob questions for the pearl. If new users are to afraid to sign up or even post because they will get flamed then there is something really wrong.

i only flame people with 100+ posts who should know better.

What if the question being asked is not found in this miracle thread everyone wants? It's the same kind of redundancy.

Again, I reiterate...this is a great idea. I don't, however, see everyone jumping over each other in an effort to be the first to author it.

Yeah the search feature would yeield some correct answers, after you read a bunch of threads that happen to have the keyword you were searching for and 95% of the posts are people that only say "use search". I hate it when I get a new device or join a forum to find a answer and they don't have a FAQ, so you spend the rest of the day trying to find a answer.

You want FAQ's?

Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ

http://www.blackberryforums.com/blac...faq-additions/

Right from the main forum page.

It sounds like a great idea to me. Not sure who wants to take charge of that but it would be really useful to noobies. Yes, there is the search feature but believe it or not most of the time i try and use it i get nowhere as i keep getting a list of threads that have nothing to do with what I'm trying to look for. Matter of fact, most of the time i have better luck just either outright searching thread by thread or posting it again to get answers, other then your regular "use the search field"...there are some stickys on the main page, but i think a PEARL sticky on this section would be key with the top 10 most asked questions...and links, this way like everyone else said would help cut down on repeat posts..

Okay well to reiterate what Pizzle said, anyone who wants to do it, go for it. This thread is turning into people saying the same thing over and over:

"That's a great idea, who wants to write it up?"

I think we've had enough of those posts, so I'm closing this thread. Anyone who wants to actually take the initiative, do it up, we'll sticky it.

If someone is going to take the effort to create a thread or document for this, why not make the effort to create the wiki page and we can link it from a sticky in the pearl forum so it doesn't, one day, get lost in the thousands of questions posted.
