Default BB 8100 - Audio Problem; Broken Headphone Jack

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I have blackberry 8100. My baby was fiddling with it and trying to insert headphones in its jack. The phone has an audio but there is so much noise and distortion because of which nothing is clear : voice calls, ringtone, message tone, alarm, music...everything that has audio. Even the headphones do not work anymore. I think something might have happened to it's headphone jack or earpiece. On closer look, I have noticed that the headphone jack has open edges. It might have broken. To be honest, I never noticed if the headphone insertion piece was close or open. But now I can see the phone light through the headphone jack. I hope I am able to state my problem in an understandable way. Other than that, my phone is working fine as before. I was wondering if it is the broken headphone jack that has resulted in noisy audio. If yes, what is the size of the headphone jack and can it be replaced on my own? Any information and suggestion on the said problem is welcome and will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried plugging in different headset to see if the problem persists? It may be the headphone, rather than the jack that is defective, which would be a much cheaper and easier alternative.

Hello ndub33! Thank you so much for your reply to my query. Guess what? The phone audio is back I did the basic troubleshooting battery pull (I was so stressed out that I never thought of this before).

On a side note, I have been wondering if it is possible to transfer the messages from BB to computer or another cellphone.

Thanks, once again, for your reply. I really appreciate it.
