Default GPS turn by turn ... free... help!

Please Login to Remove!

ok, after beiing told from ATT the telenav was free, I bought a cool BT GPS for $50 only to find out that it's $10 a month. Out of complaining they credited me $35 so that made it a bit easier.

Now... how do I do this free? I have yahoo 2.0 and according to their post you can via directions, change your locaion to GPS but that option doesn't show, anyone get y2.0 to work with their GPS?

Just installed Google maps, and it does recognize the GPS but not sure if it will support the turn by turn as I don't have my car right now!

Either way, I am looking to use the slick GPS and not pay anything as I already have a damn family plan and full data package!!!!

Thanks ....

Play with the google maps....you'll see (EDIT: of course, depends on what you mean by turn-by-turn....). Also, try BBmaps from RIM. As far as I can tell, the Yahoo Go doesn't work with gps puck, only integrated GPS.

well turn by turn =
make a left at market street,
right turn up there, etc....

Will definetly play a bit with google maps, but yea, looking for a hand hold during real time driving.

Thanks for the quick reply.

With BBMaps and Google Maps you will not get audible directions, if that is what you are looking for. See Stinsonddog's GPS FAQ for great detailed info.

How did you get a pearl version. I tried the sprint and the nextel links on the dl page and neither have the pearl listed. I tried just downloading the other BB versions and while they work, they dont fit the screen.

Can Mapquest Navigator work on the Pearl? I do not see any downloads that support the Pearl (any blackberry for that matter) today. If it exists, please supply a link.

Thank you.

You'll need to find a free GPS app then. However, in my experience you pretty much get what you pay for. The free options really don't have turn-by-turn/voice prompts and/or have other issues IMO.
