The kids want BBs for Christmas, my wife's still on the fence but she'll go along if she can have some way to track the kids via their phones' GPS systems (we had a close call with our youngest being lost for almost a day once and she'll never forget it).

Is there some sort of tracking software I can install on a BB that would let my wife see where the kids are on a website like Google Maps? Preferably something they can't shut off or even see running on the device? The kids are pretty smart with technology so just using Google Latitude probably isn't enough for example.

Please no flames about not trusting kids etc., you may have a different parenting style and if so I'm glad it works for you, personally I tend to agree but I know my wife's heart is in the right place.

Have you checked with the carrier? My carrier has this feature built in and it just needs to be activated (for a monthly fee, of course).

I would suggest you use SafeTREC application because through this you can keep track of the location of your kids. And this application is very useful during emergency situations since it has a panic button that with just a press of it your child can summon for help and ask for an immediate response from friends, family and also from the nearest 911 in your area.
