Default Why doesn't my GPS/Maps "track" along?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently relied on the BlackBerry Maps app to take me on a 1.5 hour trip on highways I've never been on and it worked great. The only problem is, my screen didn't "move" along with the little red dot... this meant that I had to manually cursor around to follow the dot to make sure that I was following the purple line/route guidance.

Does anyone know how to make it do this automatically?

I literally spent the entire 1.5 hour drive tracking the dot in one hand and steering with the other. Not too safe!

Did activate GPS Navigation in BBMaps?
Also, Google Maps is typically far superior to BBMaps for most uses.

And did the GPS navigation actually start?
Did you get a satellite lock?
Did the GPS "dashboard" show at the bottom of the screen?
Did the dot change to an arrow?

If you are saying you got a satelite fix, BBMaps located you, but the app did not scroll the maps as you traveled ...

Have you tried a hard reset yet? If not, with the power on, remove the battery for 30 seconds, then test.

Ahhh, good catch. I bet that's it.

Actually, on additional thought, on bbmaps if the OP is tracking, and then scrolled the map to look ahead say, or just accidently scrolled, the way to return to the tracking screen is to press the escape/back key.

You do realize the BB must be able to see the satellites to work in GPS mode.
The only time i have had any issues is when the sky view was blocked.
Also some map programs use cell triangulation. This is effective but not as accurate as the GPS method.
