Default Few Q's for 8900 Owners

Please Login to Remove!

Posted on Hofo yesterday and no reply. So reposting it here.
I Currently own a BB bold that i got in december. So far i am happy with it the only gripe being it low on memory. Some days it goes as low as 4MB and i dont think i paid nearly 800 dollars for it to do that. I am running .266 OS on it.

To the 8900 owners, i believe that 8900 has 256mb of Ram, how much ram is free on average on your 8900?

Is the edge really slow for you? Bold has 3G and i use my bold for twittering, Email, Facebook, viigo, Beejive and ocassionally follow blog links that i see on twitter. You think with Edge it will make a really big of difference? True i bought Bold for 3G because i used to use a 8707v which had 3G, but the time i bought my Bold, 8900 wasnt available in my country.

8900 has a speedier processor then bold? is it as fast as bold or what?

I am used to either keyboard i.e. of Bold and 8900. if any of you can answer my question ill be really glad.

cheers

I avg 110 - 135 MB of memory (including facebook, viigo, gmail, google maps, etc)

EDGE is slow but I am on UMA both at work and home.

Can't speak to the others as I never used a Bold before.

In stock form you'll have about 135MB free. You can remove some items and get to as much as 160MB free on the 8900.

EDGE hasn't been very slow for me. It's definitely not slow enough for me to look into switching devices. Being able to use WiFi also helps.

The Bold has a faster processor, but only by a little bit. They are also different processor types so I'm not sure how they compare head to head.

I have a LOT of programs on my 8900. I will try and list them all.

Gmail for Mobile
Livestrong Calorie Counter
Google Mobile App
iheartradio
MyGlobalTalk
Audible
Mobilepocket Reader
Opera Mini
BlackBerry App World
Nav4All
Telemap Navigator
Google Maps
Poynt
Tabletalk Magazine
Our Daily Bread
Noah Bible Reader
Beiks Dictionary
Streams in the Desert
Prayer Praise and Promise
Texas Hold'Em
Sudoku
Lexulous
BBTetris
Cribbage
Aces Solitaire
Poker Blast
AP Mobile News
Yahoo Instant Messenger
Facebook
TwitterBerry
UberTwitter
Apaitu
reQall
Slacker Mobile
Wattpad
MaraTick
Several Shortcut Links
All of the standard BB programs, except for extra languages

I have data, whenever a program will allow it, stored on the Micro SD card.

I do not keep all of the above programs open. Several I am only testing before making a final decision.

All that being said, I currently have, after a battery pull, 116,195,687 bytes free. Can I possibly say how much I love this model 8900?

Only 3rd party apps I have is Google Maps, App World, SpeedTest (which I think is 32KB), Pandora.

I leave all the original programs on the device, I actually use memo, task and PW keeper. I only use BBM, AIM, and YM so all other messaging is un-installed.
I recently installed DOCs to Go.

Help, and languages are uninstalled.

All the original games are still on. And the john meyer vid is removed.

My memory is around 110 - 130 MB. It has not dropped below 110 yet.

I think the BB Brower is slow. I didn't mind EDGE, it was good enough for me. But I came from a 8320. I noticed after the 4.5 update, web browsing is slower. Seems that way too on the 8900.
