Default MDS Connection Service won't start

Please Login to Remove!

Up until now, our organization hasn't had a need to use any MDS applications.
Now we are starting to investigate MDS.
I cannot get the connection servce to start though. When I try to start it, the status changes to 'Starting', but then quickly goes back to 'Stopped'. When I try to start it from Services, it shows that it is running for a few seconds, then stops. No helpful messages at all in the Event Viewer.
The MDS Services seem to run fine, and I can log into the web interface.
We're running BES 4.1.4.12. The Connection Service is 4.1.3.15.
I have been searching the internet for 2 days looking for help with no luck.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

This is known to happen and there are different fixes depending on the situation. If you moved your BES from one machine to another your BES could be trying to use the wrong MDS-CS. It can also be an issue with a reg key. review the following KB's:

I had found both of these articles yesterday. They didn't help. Thank you though.
Our BES has never been moved, nevertheless I did verify that the name was correct.
We have multiple Java versions installed:
Jave 2 RE 1.4.2_03, 08 and 11.
J2SE RE 5.0 Update 6, 7, 9 and 11.

The registry key was pointing to 5.0 Update 11. I modified that to point to 1.4.2_03 (as per the KB article) but that didn't help at all, so I changed it back.

I plan on uprading to 4.1.6 SR2 next week. I doubt it will make a difference, but I don't know what else to do.

Any other suggestions?
