Default Mapquest Navigator

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, so I just signed up for Mapquest Navigator, but when I downloaded it and installed everything went alright. The problem is when I start it up and it is on the loading page something will pop up min later saying: A network error has occurred, please try again. If this problem persists, please check your network settings or contact customer support. Well I don't know what is going on here. I started up Mapquest Navigator while I was outside so it wasn't like it couldn't find the satellite. Any help would be great!

Make sure you have your application permissions set properly. Pretty much any navigator program requires that location(gps) and carrier internet be set to allow.

Ok, I just downloaded it myself and had the same problem. I refreshed my GPS and then it started working fine. It seems much faster then Telenav and with the $4.99/month price I think I'll probably switch.

i was running both programs for a month, just called at&t a few days ago to cancel telenav... mapquest works better IMO...

my biggest gripe with telenav was, if it maps out a route that you don't like, and you stray from the route for like a good 5 seconds it still "assumes" you are taking the route it had mapped (and actually shows you on the route) and doesn't refresh right away... mapquest seems to recalculate a new route much faster... the only thing i wish mapquest had was an ETA on the main nav screen like telenav did... and maybe the speed you're traveling (instead of clicking on GPS data)

I went to the mapquest website. They indicate that the program won't work with Verizon. Yet, I see that a couple people on this string list the 8130 Verizon Pearl as their phone. Doe it work well with Verizon? Will I need a separate GPS puck. The 8130 GPS is typically locked unless one uses VZNav, in my experience.
Thanks,
Bruce

Default Verizon and Mapquest Navigator

Anyone know if this will work on Verizon? How do I download if Verizon is not a choice at the website?
Thanks,
Bruce

The 8130 users you see using it are either a sprint customer that has the GPS unlocked for application use, or a verizon user that has a bluetooth GPS puck paired with their BB.

You can download it and install it, just can't use the GPS features without an external GPS puck.

As noted, it won't work w/the internal GPS on Verizon Pearls....if you do decide to get a GPS puck, I strongly recommend the Freedom 2000 GPS keychain puck. Review and info/pics here:

It's terrific...very small and works perfectly.

Got the Freedom GPS2000 today. Only problem I had was figuring out that I had to go to the GPS section under Options on the Pearl 8130 and set the GPS choice to the Freedom 2000. It had been set to the internal GPS and so didn't work at first.
BTW, although I like MapQuest Navigator the best, Verizon VNav does work with the puck even after I cancelled the VNav subsription and the internal GPS chip was deactivated by Verizon.

Glad you found that setting...w/out that it can be pretty frustrating.

Yeah...I played around with that. You don't even need to initially pay for VZNav...just download it and use it w/your BT puck, and it works for navigation.

Some of the features didn't appear to work properly, so maybe you need to activate it once for all features to work, but navigation worked fine.

I thought that the fact that VZW names streets would be a bigger deal, but the pronunciation was unclear enough in several cases that it wasn't that impressive...
