I'm sorry that you can't take a joke (with smiley)...maybe you need to get a grip and chill.

If you don't like Suretype, turn it off, or return your phone for another BB w/a full QWERTY keyboard. And maybe think for a few seconds before hitting the Submit key next time...

I'm sorry that you're so bent on making a name for yourself that you can't stand to read a thread before chiming in being a wiseass and putting down everybody else. I came looking for genuine suggestions, and what you instead gave was a cheap-shot attempt at acting real special. Way to go.

As for your "suggestions:: how about not? Do you take a car in for maintenance and have the dealer tell you "hey either stop driving or just return the car and buy one without this problem"? Clearly not. I like SureType and I like the Pearl otherwise. Just trying to figure out how I can make it work better for me.

Maybe you can try turning your ego off, oh lord of blackberries.

dirty, you say the word 'your' is not even given as a choice, along with 'tour'?

That is odd.

the way ST works is that it learns or "accepts" words when you press the space bar to accept them. You should be able to simply type y o u r and press space on the correct choice. Doing so three times in a row will normally allow it be added as a choice to your menu.

About the flaming here... let it go, all, please. Everyone has made their point now. Please, back to the OP questions or leave the thread.

Yeah, that's the thing. I'm giving wild estimate numbers here, but I'd say "your" works about 85% of the time. But that one out of every so often times, it'll decide that the word is "tour". I catch this immediately and try to go back, but it'll only offer a tiny subset of possible choices, none of them being "your". I don't mind if it goes to "tour" but allows the other [correct] choice. Just that sometimes I'm forced to delete the entire word and write it again. Guess what I'm asking is if there's a way to always make it bring up all suggestions, every time... From what I'm seeing, I'm thinking the answer is "no"...

As for the flaming, I'll readily admit I'm being a bit overly hostile, and I do apologize for my behavior. I just don't like dealing with people who can't focus on the question, and instead turn threads into personal stabs at others.

I've just accepted some misspelling of words as part of the technology, it will get better. I have to admit, I also have an 8800 and, because the keys are so small, I misspell more on the 8800 with QWERTY than on the Pearl with suretype. There is no perfect system at the moment, you have to find the one that works best for you.

Just for the record - it appears that AT&T and Sprint/Nextel are not nearlly as morally righteous as Verizon.

Looks like you'll have to switch carriers or find a new Hobby

I have learned to replace, naked bar, strip club, etc with "Business Meeting" much easier.

1. I will see you at the "Business Meeting" at 9

2. No dear, I am attending a "Business Meeting" be home around 12.

Don't even get me started with Open and Porn. If you ever want a good laugh go read your custom word list.

I think your suggestion worked best. For anybody else interested, Troy's suggestion was: "Biggest issue, turn off Auto word learning and 90% of your issues go away after deleteing your custom word list and starting again."

Set it up this way earlier in the day, and SureType has been fairly friendly all day. Still the occasional hiccup, but MUCH easier to use.

Thanks again.

Glad it is working better. Words you do use that don't show up, manually add them to your custom word list.

The one I've yet to figure out is favid, everytime I try to type my name, David, the first thing it comes up with is favid. It's not in my custom word list, it's not a real word, so where does SureType come up with this one?

Is there a way to remove words from SureType? Something like favid which I'll never use but pops up every time I put in my name?

I've also had the occasional problem of entering a word and getting an odd set of possible words without getting the correct one, like oh and ph

David

Are you sure you checked the F listing in your Custom Word list? If so and it's really not there then go into AutoText and add an entry for Favid = David. Then if it insists on typing favid it will at least change it to David!

And with SureType just be glad your bosses first name isn't Dag!!! :P

Good Luck!

I was recently joking with my hubby via BBMessenger - me using my 8130 Pearl. I wanted to type 'It's your fault!!' and got 'It's tour daily!!'.

Not quite the same effect, but it made both of us laugh

anyone else on 8130's care to run this test?
I have an 8100, but it typed it perfectly(stripclub), having syrupclub as a second option.

Positive about the F and f listings in my custom word list, it's not there. Which brings up a point, why are words in the custom word list sorted by capital letter then lowercase letter? I always find that really annoying.

I'll try the auto text shortcut, thanks.

I'm considering trying a Pearl, mainly do to its size, and had a question about adding words to the custom list. Can that be done on a computer and import the list into the pearl, or must it be done on the BB itself? I want to add a number of scientific/medical terms, and that would seem to be easier.
Thanks
