Question New User—what are the key limitations with my BB as a Mac user?

Please Login to Remove!

I have the 8830 World Phone and have PocketMac installed for syncing.

This is all very new to me so I'm trying to wrap my brain around the differences as a Mac user.

Since BB doesn't work natively with a Mac OS, will I have problems transferring media from my Mac to my BB, or does PocketMac make that possible? I've been getting to know the phone and reading all of the various user manuals, but I don't think I'm quite up to speed on exactly what I can't do (or will have problems with doing) with my BB since I'm a Mac user.

Can somebody give me a one-paragraph layman's explanation of the limitations, esp. with regard to media transfer?

I found this with a quick search here in the Mac forum.

Looks like it should find the BB as another folder.

The last reply in that linked thread leads me to believe I need to have a media card in my BB, or else nothing will mount to the desktop. Is this accurate?

(or perhaps he is saying he drags/drops onto the media card once the BB has mounted to the desktop- I guess one could read it either way... : )

You do need a media to have it mount properly. Also, after connecting the device to the Mac, I have seen it takes upwards of 60-90 seconds before it shows in Finder or on the desktop.

ROFL. The Key limitations with a BB and a Mac? ROFL.

The fact that RIM's lazy ass wont write desktop software for the mac.

No Macs in Canada, eh? Hosers.

I have a mac and I must say there are a great deal of limitation. It is mainly that you don't have the opportunity to install Desktop Manager and therefore one is not able to update your device software. You could say that DM is the same to Blackberry as iTunes are to iPhone
In connection with the media card, transfer of music etc. I'm not experiencing any problems. You don't need to have a media card to mount!!! (But I would say that you can't live without one.)
The only thing you need to do to mount it is to enable mass storage on your blackberry (It asks you if you want to enable it when you connect it to your mac)
Pocketmac only lets you sync with your calender and it does not let you connect trough bluetooth only by cable
Hope you could use it

If you can get the media card to mount, try DoubleTwist. It is free and works wonders transferring media.
