you might want to scan this thread, which has some overlap but discusses several other issues some bold users have seen. to the extent i have gotten youtube videos to play at all, it has been via a wi-fi connection. then i launched browser, went to youtube.com or m.youtube.com, selected a video, and (when things worked) media player launched and the video played. good luck

I am able to watch video over 3G. When the wi-fi is on, I get an error. The wi-fi connection works for browsing but kills the video streaming.

A solution (I believe was first time suggested on Howard Forums) is this: add the IP address of your Blackberry to the Demilitarized Zone (see your router's configuration). This always works for me. The downside is that (don't know why yet) the BB's IP keeps changing... so I have to update the router's DMZ.

When you do get it working, make sure you don't have people around you watching those clips. YouTube quality on a Bold (and I hear other BBs too) is really low.

and if you're using a D-Link router, make sure you have the latest firmware for it.

My DIR-625 was blocking Youtube on the bold even though it was in the DMZ. A firmware update fixed it. (version 3.07 works with streaming Wifi audio & video)

i've been changing channels some for testing purposes with my airlink n wireless router. went from 6 to 11, to 10 and now to 9. every time i change, the WI-FI comes on bright white (and i get a green check right of wi-fi and network name in Manage Connections) but the wi-fi icon eventually grays out and sometimes comes back on without explanation. last night an IT friend from my firm could not get my bold to associate with her 2wire (running default channel 6 i think) no matter how many times we tried to connect (plus several battery pulles). weird continuing issues

Well, the DMZ fix doesn't work anymore for me. I've updated the firmware last night (D-link Firmware Version: 2.76 , Thu, 24 Aug 2006). My DMZ is on with the right IP address, but I cannot stream video.

Disappointing isn't it? For a "flagship" device...
