Sorry to hear you're having difficulties. I use the Sprint 8830 WE and my install went very smooth. I ensured I followed the OS upgrade procedures to the letter as described on this forum. I also ensured I downloaded and installed the latest Desktop Manager prior to installing the OS. I did lose information in my text and address groups but that was all. I did see the 507 error for a split second but it went away and continued installing. These were the only issues I had and the OS is working wonderfully now.

What version DM are you using?
Try to do a backup of your device. Does it work?
I get "Failed to backup database(s)" :(

Ugraded my VZ 8830. Love the new font. Everything went smoothly. The only glitch I see is that BB Maps seems to be "Searching For Satellites" forever and not finding them.. anyone have suggestion?

4.6

And I've backed up and synced yesterday since I added a bunch of appts and a new work report (memo). As a matter of fact as I'm replying, I doing a Bluetooth backup just in case.

I have been having "TEMPORARY" lockups and I now attribute them to the media card being scanned. I think that was my problem the other day and last August when I tried the .77. I did not realize that the scanning would appear to freeze the entire unit. I may have too much music on the darn device and I only have an 8gig card. Today I moved all of my tunes out of individual composer folders and into the one big MUSIC folder to see if that helps. This morning it locked up twice. The second time, since I had a doc's appt, I just shoved it into my pocket locked up. About halfway through the appt, I got an email chirp so suddenly it was NOT locked.

Your backup failure: Do you have WSJ or Associated Press widgets? Those have caused backup problems for others.

I have my music as follows:
Media Card -> Music -> Artist name -> CD -> Songs.

The Media Card should only scan after a battery pull or when unplugged with Mass Storage Mode turned on and actively being used.

There should more recent updates other then .77 for the 8830.

Nope.. that wasn't it. I had everything turned on. For some reason, BB Maps can NOT lock onto the satellites. :( It tries for a long time but then errors out.

OK.. if I stand outside in the cold (I happen to be in Canada right now) and give it a few minutes, then it locks in. BIG DEAL (not). I notice that when I am moving around in car, the little cursor icon moves exactly where the car goes, until it reaches the end of the screen, then it keeps going! The screen does not scroll automatically to keep the icon centered as it should. After looking at the BBMaps website, I notice that is it supposed to stay centered. But I guess it doesn't like me. :(

I've noticed 2 items since moving to this release from .101:

#1- Unable to play videos on msnbc.com where I could before on .101. I receive a message that video is not supported on my device
#2- My 3rd-party car charger no longer works. Could be coincidence, but something in the software could be making the BB more "picky" about it's power source. The charger light is on. I've yet to try a friend's BB. My RIM wall charger works fine.

Richard, try pressing 0 when in bbmaps with gps on. It should then follow the location of where you are.

When the update came out for 4.2.x for 8830, Decembers 07.. does anyone remember what the delay was for Verizon to release their update after other providers had released theirs? (This is assuming Verizon was not the leader releasing the update first)

I am experiencing the same delay. After the upgrade, it takes a second or two before the BlackBerry comes to life.

Hmmm I have a unlocked device and my SIM card shows up fine. Haven't been overseas in a year to test it, but will be testing it in Sept. But if I go to options->advanced->SIM, it shows the simID and says security is disabled.

The upgrade went well , even though memory holds steady for a while, it eventually drops down and runs out, so there is still a leak somewhere.

I agree. I have 127 on the 8830, with only GTalk and WSJ Mobile Reader installed and the memory has steadily declined from ~6MB to ~2MB. This is with several dozen emails, a few txts and a lot of playing around with Gtalk and WSJ.
