I sent a text message to user A. User A received the message but I also heard from user B that they received the same message. Both users are in my address book. I checked the BB log and it only shows the message being sent to the correct recipient. Also, the outbound text log from the carrier only shows it going to the correct recipient. Has anyone ever seen this issue?

It is possible. That is the reason I have a BB and not my android.

I used to be in a txt conversation with someone on the android and press reply and type the txt. The txt would be sent, with the person's name at the top, but then suddenly it would change to a different name. No other txts going on, no other conversations. It would randomly fetch someone out of the contacts list.

I did a lot of research on it and answers came back that it was a 'glitch' in the android system that some phones had, nothing caught but something just there.

Orange couldn't figure out what as going on and like you thought it would not be possible, but myself, countless users of the internet and acrsd say yes it can happen. I know my example is with an android, and this is a BB forum, but I didn't ant acrsd to think he/she was going crazy and imagining it....

So yes it is possible.

As texts are handled directly by the carrier and not by RIM, Orange should be able to help you, if the problem is as widespread as you seem to think.

I did say that I was talking of an android....and I am aware that this is a BB forum...

I might be near 60 but I haven't gone daft in the head yet...lol...

I was mearly pointing out that as you said it is not possible that you might poss be mistaken...no matter what make or model of phone it is indeed possible.

I recall this affecting Android users when I had my HTC Evo 4G. I believe a firmware update sorted it.

I must admit to feeling very secure with the Blackberry re texting, none have gone astray.

Probably wongly I look on the BB more like a 'normal' phone, poss because it looks like an older 'normal' phone, but of course it is still a smartphone.

Maybe back to Acrsd's post/query because, maybe down to me, we do seem to have hijacked his thread.....sorry mods and acrsd...

Hello - I recently upgraded to the new BB Desktop Software 6.0

I am now experiencing continuous issues where TXT Messages are being sent to the WRONG RECIPIENT!! This never happened before.

I open message history, open the last msg sent by a recipient, type my reply to them and click send. Then, someone different reply's stating I sent my msg to the wrong person and the intended recipient is not in receipt.

The new history now shows the msg as having been sent to the wrong person. What is happening is just as I am clicking send, the name is changing to the wrong contact - nearly every time!

Anyone found a solution yet?

To answer your question, make sure the options are set correct. Check that messages are shown together.


By default, your BlackBerry® device theme determines whether SMS text messages appear in the same message list as email messages.
1. In a message list, press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Click General Options.
4. Perform one of the following actions:
To use one message list for all messages, set the SMS and Email Inboxes field to Combined.
To separate SMS text messages from email messages, set the SMS and Email Inboxes field to Separate.
5. Press the Menu key.
6. Click Save.
