Default Bold 9700 Charge Pod

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
Just got my first Blackberry/smartphone a bit under 2 weeks ago, and I have a question about the charge pod accessory.

Any idea why some RIM/OEM based Bold 9700 charge pods have a blue LED light, while others are white? Any difference in functionality?

As well, am I correct that the note on ShopBlackberry.com about it having syncing capabilites, as well as charging, being incorrect? Although it does say that, from what I've read, it seems that this was inaccurate.

Thanks!

I had an 8900 before and the charge pod for my 9700 functions exactly the same (and unfortunately that does not include syncing ability).

The RIM Charging Pod connects to the two battery contacts on the base of the 9700. There is no data bus interface. The LED is dimmer compared to the LED on the 9000 charging pod which I really appreciate in the a dimly lite room.

The only charge pod that syncs is the original Storm 1 pod.
This was because it used the usb port to connect to charge, so obv syncing was available on that.

It's a little mis-leading when on the RIM product site, all the charging pods say "charge your phone and sync with computer at the same time."

While this is TRUE, that you can do both at the same time, it's a little mis leading. The charging POD itself can NOT do both at the same time. Basically charge your phone with the charging pod, while you grab a data cable to sync with the computer.

Maybe some of you guys remember way back in the 72xx & 75xx days. All the blackberry's came with the black dock. Didn't do anything except held your phone up while syncing it with the computer.
